NOS Koyo 520/555 intermediate shaft bearing on Amazon?

    https://www.amazon.com/Koyo-RNU07061.../dp/B00DBODV8U

I wish they had a photo of the bearing itself. For the price, I bought one anyway.

I bought bearings from the same seller twice on amazon for my 568 rebuild. They sent me the wrong bearings the first time but they refunded me including shipping and then sent me the right bearings out. Good company to deal with! I would not hesitate to buy from them again!

Got the bearing in today. Old-ish looking box with a legit bearing factory-sealed inside! If they're as hard to find as others say, then people buy these up!

I purchased two of these and they arrived today (along with a bonus check and letter from work). As said these are genuine sealed in the plastic NOS Koyo bearings. It was like winning the lottery opening the mail today

Yes, they're USED BEARINGS! I bought this one from them a few months ago. It was sealed and all but once I opened it I could clearly smell solvent tank solution and a close inspection of the rollers you could see they're most definitely used.

Did I use it in my rebuild? Yes because I cannot get the right bearing anymore.

Did I leave them bad feedback? Absolutely for mis-representing their items.

Smell your bearing. Does it smell like solvent?

Look at it very closely. Do you see wear in the rollers?

Can one of you guys post a picture of the box it came in? Mine came in a generic box that said something like BEARING on it. Not a Koyo box.

Here is one of the ones I bought.

Here is one that I bought recently from ebay from a chrysler dealership. It has the same appearance in the center of the rollers. The preserving oil is all dried up and you see the cardboard fuzz stuck to the edges.

And both of them together. The one I am holding is the 'newer' one, its all wet and oily hence the shinier appearance. The date on the package is November 1995.

They smell like machine oil. I can understand the appearance of the rollers looks suspicious, I can only trust the bearing in the package dated from 1995 is just that, new old stock and it has the same exact appearance as the allegedly cleaned up used bearing.

I don't know what all these bearings are/were used in besides our transmissions. Not to say anything is impossible but to think someone figured out there is a market for these things so they go out and buy up a bunch of transmissions just to pull these out and resell them as new.. that is getting into tin foil hat territory IMO.

The box's the 'new' bearings came in are generic.

Thanks for posting the pics. Yes they both look suspicious out of the box however I do believe you.

The one I got from the ebay seller was not factory sealed and reeked of solvent tank solution.

Re: NOS Koyo 520/555 intermediate shaft bearing on Amazon?

I received my bearings yesterday. They're not NOS, they are definitely used. There are obvious signs of wear on the center of the rollers and on the outer shell of the bearing.

I tried one bearing on the 555 I'm rebuilding. It fits fairly well with some slight play.

I got out the dial indicator and got quantative. This bearing has about .011" of axial play. Next I measured the play in a new 5707 bearing. That came in at .037".

Even though these bearings are clearly used, I think I would rather use it than a new 5707 bearing.

That's how I felt about using this vs the other bearing. The only issue I have with the seller is claiming new but definitely used.

The box isn't even the correct one. Same generic one I got.

Re: NOS Koyo 520/555 intermediate shaft bearing on Amazon?

I didn't want to open the bag on mine since it was sealed, but after this discussion, I went for it. It's in extremely good condition, there's no pitting on the rollers whatsoever, there's a thin layer of oil on it, and I don't smell mineral spirits. I left the photos large for detail, so sorry if you're looking at this on a phone/tablet. Mine appears to look just like Craig's.

Speaking of the 5707, I purchased one a few years ago, took it out of the box, slipped it on the end of the gearset and immediately said OH HELL NO. Has anybody actually used one of those?? No way am I going to have my unobtanium gearset flopping around .030"-.040" in whatever direction. I'm genuinely curious as to whether anybody has been brave (or desperate) enough to use it and what their results were.

Other than these for whatever everyone wants to think of them, the 5707 was/is the only choice and has been for a long time. Lots of transmissions have been built using the 5707 as it was the replacement bearing from Chrysler after the koyo was no more.

Re: NOS Koyo 520/555 intermediate shaft bearing on Amazon?

Does anyone here work in auto parts or have access to roller bearings? I'm really curious now what a different roller bearing surface looks like that's brand new.

I've used hundreds of them over the years in various applications and never remember the surface looking used as these do but perhaps I wasn't scrutinizing them as I was this "new" bearing.
