    MPScan USB FTDI cable advice

Hello, I am about to dive into socketing and tuning my SMEC. I already have the Ostrich and have found / downloaded MPTune and MPScan.

I am about to build a cable for MPScan and would like some current info *if there is any* about what cable / chip guys have the best success with. I would like to order one tomorrow.

    Thanks for any input!

Can I have a link or see pictures of the car end of the cable you provide? If it's nice and sturdy I'd be interested. That's my challenge, making a plug for the car side that isn't just loose wires.

    Thanks.

The BoostButton previous versions used a small board with male spade terminals soldered right to the board.
    So they were/are fairly robust.
    Here's a version 2:

I'd like one. When can you ship it out? If there's going to be a delay I will probably just buy the cable and scab together something so I can start logging.

    I'll send you a pm.

    Thanks.

Sorry I forgot to post a pic, here's one. I can send one out in the next day or so, soon as the Post Office is open again.

New to tuning so quick question, please bare with me. Sci Board connects into obd1 plug or diagnostic port then the ftdi cable connects into it with a usb end that u can run to a laptop and run mpscan with correct? Also i have a ostrich with an 87Lm, This setup should work for datalogging?

Re: MPScan USB FTDI cable advice

The SCI board does just connect to the factory diagnostic port. I'm not sure if you can use the Ostrich for datalogging. I'm sure there are posts about it.

But, from what I understand - if you are just looking to datalog right now with MPScan, you can take a FTDI cable and just put spade connectors on the Ground, TX and RX wire of the FTDI and plug them into the diagnostic connector.
There are instructions on the BoostButton tuning Wiki.

yes with the SCI cable (FTDI cable and boost button adapter) you can log a LM with MPScan.

there is also an old program, LMlog that works with less setup than mpscan to make sure things are working.

    lmlog.zip

and the ostrich does work well with the LM but does not log.
