inner tie rod removal

ok, here's the thing. i need to change out the driver side inner tie rod because the guts of it has disentegrated. problem: i can't seem to get it to break loose. i know there is a special tool that is supposed to be used, but it's pneumatic and no parts store has them for loaner. any suggestions?


it's the TRW inner tie rod end if that helps any. i have, currently, been trying to get it to break free using a large set of vise grips, but it's not working. i have taken today off from work & need to go in tomorrow. i have about 5 hrs till the rains come & i'm working outside, so quick answers will be greatly appreciated.

You pay shipping both ways and you can borrow mine. It isn't pneumatic, it looks like a long (over a foot long) tube with a ratchet square on the one end and the socket on the other. Just uses a 1/2" drive ratchet.

Yep, thats the baby, or if space permits, use a pipe wrench.

Mine is just the top tube part. I don't have the 3 other adapter thingies.

what's the size then? 1 3/16, 1 5/16? just the tube part is so much cheaper than the whole set.

nope, autozone & o'reillys have no idea what i'm talking about, so i have to buy one & they don't sell them locally...so i have to order it.
