I know it is? I'm using it as a reference. The splined area is longer on his new ones
New one on left
So the spline is longer, and overall the same length as a stock shaft with the nose.
We'll need a custom torque converter anyway, so not sure if there is an issue?

Kind of sounds like it fixes the need to add the clips to keep it from walking? ...

Got one last update for this thread.
All the manufactured shafts from this group, and the extras that Donato made are all sold.
I think that was 20 total units!
Thanks for the interest and support to get this off the ground!
I know we mentioned before, but are there any other parts we should consider trying to get made? It seems like he would be open to other group buy runs. I think pinion shaft was mentioned.

I've never had a problem with a pinion shaft. Getting that made might be a problem because there's a couple different ones out there. That is probably the one part that is not interchangeable between the A413 and the 31TH. Where the parking pawl gear slides over the shaft, one is slightly larger than the other.
I've broken an output shaft and twisted another. I'd like to see that get made.

Are the output shafts the same part number for A413 and 31TH?

I'm almost positive they are the same. When I get time I'll compare an A413 output shaft to a 31TH shaft.
The only reason I know the pinion shafts are different is because I was building a trans for someone and the core trans I was building had a hollow pinion shaft. I told him a solid one would be better. He found one on Ebay and had it sent to me. I tried to install it and the governor base/parking pawl gear from the hollow shaft wouldn't slide over the solid shaft.
I brought my torque converter to Hughes Performance in Phoenix. $312.55 to modify my converter for the new shaft. Took them three days to do it.

aj, are you still using a A413 or are you now running the 31th? who's convertor are you using? stall speed etc?
I am running the 31TH mated to a 2.4 in the van. I'm running a A413 mated to a 2.5 in my wagon. I'm going to discuss the 31TH in my van.
The converter in the van is actually a 10.5" converter out of a 3.3/3.8 Caravan with a 41TE. I had to go 10.5" because I was blowing the lock-up out of the 9.5" converter. I was not boosting in lock-up. The converter flexes too much and would blow out the seal in it. They don't make a billet cover for the 9.5" so I had to go 10.5" I had to drill new holes in my flex plate to use the 10.5" because the bolt pattern is wider. Suncoast in Florida built my 10.5" converter and it's a 3500 stall speed. I love it. I didn't want to pay an extra $100 in round-trip shipping so I had Hughes in Phoenix modify my converter to accept the new billet inputs shafts and told them to eliminate the lock-up. I haven't installed it yet so I don't know how good of a job they did. I only know my shaft spines into it fine.
I'm installing my input shaft but can only fit one spirolock into the groove. The groove is wide enough for two but once I press it into the drum I only have room for one. I'm using a 12 ton press so I know it's bottomed out. I did use the loctite 680 when pressing it in.
I'm thinking it's not going to matter with these new shafts because they are the same length as the old one (compared to pictures of the last batch) so there's no place for it to push out to.

Awesome. Thanks.
Other than that concern, the input shaft went in fine and Hughes Performance did a good job on modifying the converter. Going to dyno tune for my big plenum intake in the next week or so and then I'll be racing at Roadkill's Zip-Tie Drags in Tucson January 19th.
Since you gave up the lockup, I guess your next converter could be smaller
Were you only using it on the freeway?
