    Tach sticks at 4000 RPM

I have an intermittent issue with the tach needle sticking at 4000 rpm on my 89 Lancer. This is something that just started recently.

The tach in Slug sometimes works, and sometimes gets stuck on 0 or some other values.
I've heard it is usually the connections of the tach board to the cluster. But i haven't had luck with a permanent fix.
I'll probably opt for a aftermarket gauge install from SpeedHut. I like the add-on gauges i put in Mini, and SpeedHut lets you totally customize the gauges.

Mine in the 87 SL is about as useless as tits on a nun. When it decides to work, it's as much as 500rpm off from what the LM is showing.

Mine just started this as well but at 2500, seen it part way through a long trip. Oh my, is my HEP going was my first thought
I happen to have two spare tested HEPs in the car. I was thinking about a simple tach swap for testing purposes

Years ago I had a tach that would stick in an 89 Spirit. Turned out the needle was actually dragging a bit and pulling it up a bit solved the problem. Just a thought.
