    Sun Visor Disassembly

I've got a couple of sun visors that I am looking to reupholster. They are from a 1988 Daytona and they are the ones with the illuminated mirrors. The original material has fallen off, and it looks like the underlying plastic substrate is 2 halves that are "snapped" together. However, if i wedge a screwdriver between the halves, they dont seem to want to come apart. Has anyone ever taken one of these visors apart? I dont want to break them if there is some other technique.

    Thanks!
    Dan

I don't think they will come apart. I've recovered a few and I just tuck the fabric in the crack using a scraper.

They will come apart, but you have to pry in just the right spots. There are a bunch of tabs that snap it closed in several spots. Let me see if I documented this well in one of my videos and I'll report back.

Yep. I covered it pretty well in the video. If you pull of the fabric you can see where the clips are and probably open it up a little better that way.

The 89 ones will snap together and come apart fairly easily if you can undo the catches you can't see. The earlier styles are glued together. This is true for an 89 CSX I had, assuming it's the case for all models, but I could be wrong. My 87 Lancer ones were glued together.

I did mine today. I never have opened them and this is the 3rd set I've done. I just tuck into the slit.
