Yes, those are better than any FM modulator.

If you're hand with a soldering iron you can open up the cassette deck, take a 3.5mm headphone jack with cord, cut the end of the cord and solder the 3 leads onto the circuit board where the tape head used to connect. Then you can either plug your phone into that jack and put any tape in or plug that jack into a bluetooth audio adapter and stream wirelessly.

Just have to keep a tape in when you want to listen to your phone.

I've done this on a few older rigs over the years. Works great.

Is there anything on the net that explains which points on the circuit board to solder
    the wires to?
I'd like to add a jack to my SRT-4 CD player.

I have never done the mod to a CD player. On a cassette player it's pretty self explanatory when you look at where the head meets the circuit board.

I'm 100% sure it can be done with a CD player also but I have not done it personally so I cannot give any advice.

Welp, after a long 6 weeks I finally got it on the road today. Differential shipping from Austria took a month alone. The transmission noise is all gone! Shifts like butter also.

Man oh man is this thing fun.

Now on to bringing it up to my spec then mods begin!

Why did the Quaife come from Austria? Last I heard Quaife North America was in San Juan Capistrano CA but that's been a few years. What oil did you use? I think my 86S is due for a fluid change.

*Shrugs* I ordered it from TU and that's where it came from.

I put straight 30wt in it for now. Shifts great with it.
