Finally getting a turbo mini! Triple unicorn in my book.

Welp I am going to pick this up next Tuesday.

1989 turbo Caravan. 5 speed with the convert a bed option.

Seller said they think the clutch is broke due to the noise when the clutch is out but I'm expecting worst case of the a555 counter shaft bearing being destroyed and a damaged counter shaft.

Here's a few pictures from the sellers ad.

Minivan 555 had a 2 pinion diff. I have a good 555 for sale if you’re passing through south east Wisconsin.

I never thought turbo Mini's were cool, until I bought one (or three) Mine last one is gathering dust waiting for a new 2.5 bottom end, think I may have made some progress there tho. Whatcha gonna do with yours, live in it?

I appreciate that but the odds of me passing through Wisconsin in the next decade are slim to almost none. If it turns out to be internal trans noise I will either rebuild it or put together a hybrid trans.

I had never heard of one until seeing this van. I then researched it and found a little info on it.

Haha no I won't live in it but may use it for naps during long shifts at work!

My end goal with the manual is mid 13's and just all around sleeper status.

I have a complete 86' New Yorker turbo sitting here. I am going to refresh / update the A413 and get a better stall converter in it and probably put it in the mini at some point just to see what I can pull down with it then put it back to 5 speed.

Yes indeed. I have no idea how to tell what options where ordered from the factory. Going to leave here at 2am tonight to go pick it up.

Thanks, I've been looking off and on for years for a turbo mini with a manual! I very well may stuff an A413 I have here for a while but will definitely leave all the 5 speed bits in it to put the manual back in.

Ahh ok. I'll look for it and see if I can find some information on it for those that are curious.

When the current owner 1st purchased the van I re-did the vac lines on it. It was (at that time) the smoothest running 2.5 I've ever heard/driven.

Ooohhh I had mis interpreted your post. I thought you were the guy I bought the van from.

None the less good info to have.

What are the 3 port solenoids on the core support above the right headlight that have nothing hooked into them?

    Ahh yeah that makes sense.

I was going through moving the boost / wideband and found the owners manual. Pretty good pile of receipts in there from the original owner.

    Kinda cool time capsule.

Haha. Digging through the van today I noticed this box tucked in under the rear side of the passenger seat!

Amazingly enough the cassette deck does still work.

I can't remember the last time I actually used a cassette in a vehicle let alone owned a tape.

I use my cassette deck every day! Although, its only that tape converter with the wire on it. I play my ipod through it. I gotta say, the sound quality is much better than those FM radio converters you hook your ipod to and tune to the station its set for.
