    Upgrading a520 shifter

What do I need to upgrade the shifter in my 87 SL to the newer style? Shifter, cables and the bracket at the transmission? This is what my car currently has.

    Just the entire shifter.

Nothing else need to be change, not the cables, nor bracket on the transmission.

Alright. I got a new shifter, cables and trans bracket coming anyways. Spares are never a bad thing.

Haha yeah. Eventually I'll pick up a spare tranny too. Not sure what I will go with. Probably a 523 or 568. Goal is 300-350whp

I'd rather go with a late model 523 over an early one, and I'd rather have the 568 than either of them. However, I would never turn down a 555 either. They're a bit easier to rebuild and hold up just as well IMO.

H Body is slightly shorter than G & J, but those can be made to work.

Don’t know for sure. The lengths are posted her somewhere. I found them a couple years ago when I was thinking about putting a 568 inmy Lancer.
