GTP up for auction on BAT

Whose car is it? I don't recognize it
As always lots of comments on the "ugliness" , but also many positive ones.

Can someone please post the link of the blog where the guy freaks out when I drive past him.

Looks like the famous John Fitch"s car I know he lived in that area and it looks like it with new wheels and maybe paint.
They ripped out headliner and painted it black ...that makes me sad...

John Fitch's car is on Long Island being driven by his Granddaughter. Our clutch vendor recently helped her with a few problems which is why I don't believe its the same car.

John Fitch's car was red/black, the BAT auction is for a white/black car. Looks so good on the Gold mesh wheels!

Seems that either #18 or Johnny's car was the first to get the aero front wheel openings. The BAT car is #17 and has the round wheel openings.

Mine is car #21 and it still has the round wheel openings. The #17 car there only has 1 fan on the back though, so somewhere between 17 and 21 they switched to 2.

Is your car a 1990? is 21 the last two numbers of your vin?????

    - - - Updated - - -

Because 21 (last of the vin on a 1990), 1990 is a targa converted to electric.

The last three digits of mine are 008, but I read the owners manual front to back and in there it says those race car tags are the order they were built in. I'll try find it again.

The electric car looks like a roadster like mine. If you look at the pics close it doesn't have the same profile and the targa hoop. it's much more slim and doesn't have support for a window.

Nice ad. I had never seen it before. Any idea on how well it performed in terms of range etc?

No, but I know a guy in Texas that has one (same one?). Talked to him a couple years ago. Owns a company who converts cars to electric.
He had planned on updating everything to modern day technology electric.

Re: GTP up for auction on BAT

The BAT auction car VIN does end in #017, which matches the "race car 17" plaque. None of the other cars seem to match like that one does though. Mosler may have just randomly picked VIN numbers and built them out of order. Or maybe the builds were started in order, but the builds were finished on wildly different time frames, so earlier VIN numbers finished later.

Re: GTP up for auction on BAT

I've found that the VINs on these cars are definitely interesting.
For example the 10th digit is the year and in this case its a J ( 1988 ) and according to the build list, they were only produced for 2 years, 88 ( J ) and 90 ( L )
From the build list they are pretty sequential up to 17 but I think you're right. The cars could easily been "built out of order"
