    Front Crank Seal Housing

Looking for the metal housing that holds the front crank seal and seats to the oil pan.
While pulling the timing gear off the crank, the puller tool slipped and chipped off a big part of the seal location.
I have had no luck searching online

    Re: Front Crank Seal Housing

There are at least 2 styles of Aluminum front seal retainer, 1989 and newer and 1988 and older.

    Thanks
    Randy

If your breaking housings your doing something wrong when pulling crank gears off. You shouldn't even be touching the housing if you are using the correct tool.

    Re: Front Crank Seal Housing

You're not wrong when using the tool in the picture. I was using a grabber type puller set, where it grabs the back of the gear.
Wrong tool, predictable results. I don't have the other type of puller and I've used mine in this way many times.

    lol
I don' have a puller , not the correct one

I had two motors to strip , thus I have no front crank seal retainer plates

machine shop can deal with the gear

A bit too late Johny but I built a puller like Todd back in January 1989 and still have today. If you need to borrow, let me know. Mine works with four and five bolt gears.
