Re: MPTune issue, using flashable SBEC

To flash my V6 SBEC 1, I don't have to set anything up. Just click the flash button and follow the prompts. I ran the boot wire inside to a push button so it was easier to access the switch. I get it to the boot prompt, press the button, hit ok on the laptop, turn the switch on and release the button after 2 secs. Works every time.

Re: MPTune issue, using flashable SBEC

Back to testing. Flashable SBEC without cal still installed. Results from "Chip ID" follow, seemed to function. Now regarding this Intel Active Management. I seemed to get the same results with the flash errors whether it is enabled, disabled or when uninstall it from the device manager. It re-installed itself. This test was with it disabled in device manager. Driver for the FTDI cable on Com 3 is listed- Provider- FTDI, Date- 8/16/17, Version 2.12.28.0 :

Re: MPTune issue, using flashable SBEC

Can you uninstall the Intel Active Management Engine from another uninstall program? From Windows control panel uninstaller, or maybe from a 3rd party uninstaller like IO Bit from CNET downloads?

Re: MPTune issue, using flashable SBEC

something isn't right!! first, typically when you send the 0xff before sending the bootprogram you will not get any bytes back since the 0xff is consumed by the ecu to determine the baud rate to use. you are receiving 2 to 3 bytes. next, when you send the flash/read programs you are not getting the correct bytes echoed back. so either there is an error in the connection rate (i.e. the ecu did NOT switch baud rates) or the connection is bad. also, i do not know if the chip id routine works with the sbec1 ecu chip. really is used for the sbec2 and fcc chips i think. (?) have you tried mpscan with that ecu/cal you are trying to flash as suggested earlier?

I will work on an update, but wanted to post quick that yesterday I was able to rule out MPTune and my laptop.

Re: MPTune issue, using flashable SBEC

    Update for closure:

-Flashable SBEC#1, Flashed fine with my laptop and a borrowed Rev2 BoostButton cable.

    -
Flashable SBEC#2, Couldn't flash with working Rev2 cable. Started removing hot glue to inspect the flash module and it didn't appear to be fully seated in socket.
Seated the module and flashed successfully once I had a functioning cable of my own.

-OG BoostButton Cable, 2011 version- removed glue and found that it would have never worked as intended.

    - 2017 BoostButton Cables- I have one functioning for functioning for data logging and flashing after swapping the diode and resistor. FTDI cables were not an issue.
The other if functioning for data logging only with a jumper from the TX spade to the TX header pin.
