Just wanted to thank everyone involved in getting this kit created! I received my DIY kit a few days ago, have not had time yet to begin building it. I did however have 2 sunny days with no rain in a row, so the Daytona is back home in my garage.

Here are some pictures I received from the builder of the project enclosures.
This is his thoughts on a protective enclosure with the intent of panel mounting the display.
I need to get some feedback from the customers who ordered the 5" & 7" displays if this is something you would want, or if you have some other ideas.
My original idea to him was to basically scale up the protective enclosure used on the 3.5", and have an option for a wider flange on the top panel for panel mounting the display. A requirement of mine was to make the enclosure as thin as possible. I think these pics missed the mark from what I envisioned.
These can be made in the same variety of acrylic colors, and possibly other opaque materials. The color here is just a demonstration.
He mentioned a 3D printed panel bezel might be a better way to go.
Please provide me some feedback asap, so I can try to work something out for you. If not, then it might be best to let one of you guys develop a solution, then maybe we can get a quantity produced.
Thank you.

How heavy are they? I was thinking of using something like this.

I like the idea thedon809 linked above.
All I can say about the example pictured is it seems to do the job well.
And with the extra material around the screen, it opens more options for mounting. The plastic can be cut to fit, and drilled for mounting.
I really like the idea of having extra plastic around the screen(like an inch wide border?), for the purposes I mentioned.
Lastly, and again, you’re all doing a fantastic job for this project. Thank you. 👍🏻

I'm not sure what I'll want for a panel enclosure yet. My initial thought is I will be building a custom center console and mounting the panel in that.
It weighs more than an equivalent sized tablet. The display is thicker than most of the tablets, and in the above enclosure, measures about 1" thick. Using different standoffs he could get it down to about 3/4".
I believe i tried a 7" in my cellphone/gps holder. But at the time there was no protector.
This is the 5". I don't see a pic with the 7".

I personally would like the 5" enclosure for mine. Would prefer to keep it protected wherever it will end up.

Update: Two more orders were shipped out today. (Well yesterday I guess, 3/6/18.)
Headed to Kenosha, WI
And Torrance, CA.
This completes all the Group2 orders that didn't include enclosures.
I am still waiting for the latest design enclosure to test changes made for the v2.5 board differences. Once its good, i can order the 10 remaining enclosures to complete the remaining orders.
I've been busy over the last couple days updating and function testing the assembled boards. I have one that appears to have a problem BT module. I tested 4 on the car yesterday, and need to test another 4 tomorrow (Weds).
I also need to work on the van so i can try to go 1/8 mile race Thursday. Need to get some testing in. Going to try to hit the 1/4 on Sunday.

Update: All of the remaining assembled boards have been updated and tested on one of my vehicles. One unit had an issue with the BT module so it was replaced.
The remaining orders are all boxed and ready to go once the new enclosures arrive.
I did receive my test enclosure, for the changes. And I'm glad I learned from the last experience! There are a few things the builder will need to modify for differences with these new version boards.
Hopefully he can make those design changes, and I'll see if he recommends another tester, or if he is confident.
He sent along the display enclosure he was working on. But, i haven't had time yet to assemble it and inspect. I'll post more pics when i do.
I'll update again when i place the order for all the enclosures.

Checked out the enclosure changes today, and they are pretty much perfect. He needs to make a couple slight tweaks, but shouldn't stop me from making the order.
I forgot to ask previously, but does anyone have any thoughts either way on getting the word "MPSciLink" engraved into the top panel of the enclosure? The builder can do text with the lazer, so i was thinking about that. I don't have an example though. Can locate it in a corner, made from lazer width line, or probably can outline the letters for larger text.
Lmk. I'm going to place the enclosure orders tomorrow.

As far as the engraving, makes no difference to me if it has it or not.
I like the engraving idea, but it’s not something that’s absolutely necessary. It is a nice touch though.

I'm fine either way

I ordered the enclosures today, but looks like he'll need more stock for the number of smoke enclosures. I had already tipped him off to that, so hopefully he has it on the way.
I did not bother right now with engraving. Next time I need a test enclosure, maybe I'll try that out.
