I will need an assembled unit.
And, as for the “Arduino Mega 2560 Clone”, I’m sure I need that as well if it’s not something that’s included with the assembled kit.

    Thanks 👍🏻

I think I'll spring for a DIY kit with the Mega ( I assume it's needed for operation?) and a 7" screen.

Yes Rob, the Mega is needed to operate the device.
The reason why it is listed as "optional" is if the customer may already have, or would like to source themself. There are some very cheap ones, but they may have issues. The ones Miles and Morris have selected and used are at least known to work.
A goal has always been to try and keep prices very low and pretty close to cost.

    Re: MPSciLink device pre-order

Here is a short video showing the 7" display powered up on my coffee table test bench.
    https://youtu.be/v1hW2TeT80U

It is just showing I successfully modified wowzer's display software for a custom start splash image.
I need to get the mpscilink software files loaded on the display and then i should be able to wire up in Slug for some actual log and sensor data testing.

    Re: MPSciLink device pre-order

I would like to go live with the new MPSciLink order website.
But, no one ever likes to see prices be higher than expected. So, i am trying to finalize supplier pricing for these displays, and still trying to source a project enclosure that works for this device.

Some of you have received a PM who have not stated your intended display option. Please do so soon.
My goal was to have the order page published by the end of the week, but that is now nearly here!

Thank you, and please keep an eye on this thread.

    Re: MPSciLink device pre-order

Bench testing with the new version2 device is wrapping up, just have to test updating the 7" nextion through mpscilink and mpscandroid tomorrow. Tomorrow also plan to test in the car. If all goes according to plan, i will go live with the order page.
A couple folks have not yet indicated intended display size, but the quote i have should be good to start with.
I might need to disable the enclosure option for now, until i can test out the one i ordered. But the builder is willing to adjust his design so we should be able to get an enclosure for the board and arduino.
The larger displays will need to have some case or bezel developed.
Is there someone in the group that could come up with something? ITead does have some 3d print files gor bezel for the 7", and i assume they do for the 5". But the border is quite wide. Someone should zip some out of acrylic with a router.

Are there plans to make available compatible sensors for oil pressure or other things not measured by the ecu? Looking for a solution to use the 7" display as a permanent dash but I'm not sure how hard it would be to have oil pressure displayed along with coolant temp, rpm, and speed.

I'm hoping to test with some of my SpeedHut gauges in the van, to see if i can log them. The ones I have don't have seperate output for logging.
We should be able to find temperature elements and pressure transmitters that would work as analog inputs. When wiring in just a sensor though, you would have a gauge except on the device screen or when monitor/log through Android.
I'll ask Miles if he can identify which sensors we would need to use.

The ExoticElectron Dual Thermocouple Gauge Kit was working well with the v1 device prototype. And he had encapsulated thermocouples available for wet fluids, and open element for air & egt. Wonder if he could do a dual pressure gauge for like oil & fuel.

It’s been a little while since the dual thermocouple thread was active, but I remember Asa saying that it could be used for several different things.
When I ordered mine, I got two of the open elements and intend to use them for coolant temps at different points in the reverse cooled system.

But I bet if one was to pull up that Dual Thermocouple thread the information is surely there. 👍🏻

Theoretically, if we can source a datasheet for any sensor and they are 0-5v I would think we should be able to map them with the Arduino pretty easily.

Especially since we now have buffered inputs for V2

You might want to look over that data for your kits. I remember Asa saying the enclosed tip thermocouples needed to be used if intented for coolant, oil, trans fluid, etc.

Have a couple new testing/demo videos
    3.5" display testing
    https://youtu.be/IjinirddwX8

    7" display testing
    https://youtu.be/8yvhStMzZ-Q

Going to try and get better video next time. this GoPro Hero4 has a fisheye no matter which resolution you select. Might try to rig up something with my phone to get better video.
Please let me know what I can feature for you, but keep in mind i hope to get better at videos, and have a decent how-to set up for this eventually.
And I think I kept saying MPCsiLink! I meant, MPSciLink! Maybe we should shorten to "MPSL" for video purposes!

Be gentle with your comments! At least until you have your products!

I can make enclosures out of wood potentially. I've got a CNC router in my garage. I would think 3d printed would be better though.

That may be one option. With a dense enough wood, you could make some nice bezels for these larger displays. I was looking on amazon and found a 7" Raspberry PI display stand that was made from bamboo. Anyway, lots of options, but the all will require some design expertise.
3D printed might be the better, as you say. Once these are out in creative customers' hands, maybe someone can share their talents for a resolution.

Suggestion; Would you run through the tasks involved in changing the CAL?
Basically show what changes are made by using which functions.

I realize this is probably an elementary question, but it will be great to know beforehand.

    Thanks again.
