I've got the store updated for the optional extended length display cables.
For those interested in ordering with your current orders, the cables can ship in the same packaging with no additional shipping.
Shipping will have to be charged on cable orders made after device ships.

If there are any questions, let me know.

    Thanks Barry.
Ok, I've got cables prepped for you, Bucar, and Trotter.
I will test cables with the devices prior to shipping.

Currently i have enough cable for a 45-46" harness if anyone wants an odd length. I"ve got more wire on the way, and I'll have it before the boards arrive, since it has been only 2 days for me to get orders from this supplier. I ordered some 2 position JST connectors also to use with the usb micro boards. They won't lock onto the pins, but you could tape, shrink tube, or hot glue if you don't want to solder.

Let me know when the cases become available. I would like to order one to ship out with my unit so I can save on shipping later. Thank you.

I'm expecting the newly designed enclosure test unit any day.
I'm hopeful I've got all the required changes properly measured so we can get them in time.
I'm striving to have everything come together for single box shipping.

The only thing that may not happen in time is the protective case for the 5" & 7" displays. But I plan to work on those with the same builder of the enclosure, so we should end up with a solution that compliments the enclosures.

    Re: MPSciLink device pre-order

If anyone wants some of this same cable for the wire run to the diagnostic plug, let me know and i can order more and should be able to fit all in the same shipping box. I can attach the terminal ends like i have, or just provide the wire. It may be easier getting a long spool of wire. I might be using about 6-7 ft or so to get over to my plug in the engine bay.

I have the cable that boost button sold. Could I use that, or is this a different animal? If it is, I would like some of what you're getting. I've priced out the multi wire cable recently and it's nuts IMO.

This device does not use the FTDI cable. This device uses simple wire.
I've tested with the similar 4 conductor 22AWG wire as the extended display cables and it works fine.
You wouldn't want to cut up your ftdi cable in case you ever need mptune or mpscan as a backup.

If it looks like there would be interest, I can see about getting a much bigger spool. But i don't want to get stuck with alot of wire. I'm using the same wire for my analog inputs as well.

I wish i could find some being thrown away again!
I can't find a discounted longer length spool. If i could sell it in 8ft lengths, I think i could make it work for about $10-12 per 8ft. (This is just the cable, no connectors.)

    Re: MPSciLink device pre-order

Update: i was able to catch my order I placed Saturday before it was processed further, so i will have some extra wire to sell in some 8' lengths. That should be plenty long enough to get to your ecu diagnostic connector, and possibly have some leftover you can use for something, like for analog inputs.

Anyone else from the first group that wants a display cable with their order will need to get it in soon. I'm expecting those boards will go out today. I'll update when i receive tracking info. So I think I'll probably be shipping first group orders out by the end of next week.

The revised prototype enclosure has shipped. I should receive it this week and will perform final fit testing. If all goes well, i will update the order page with pics, and go live with ordering.
Anyone in that group that is interested in a device enclosure, may have to wait a few extra days to save additional shipping.

Is the 8’ cable a necessity for function?

It is not necessary to buy this particular cable, but it has been tested with the mpscilink.
You DO need some kind of wire to attach the mpscilink to the diagnostic connector.
You CAN NOT use the mptune/mpscan flash cable (FTDI cable).

Options for connecting to diagnostic connector are using a 4 conductor like I've tested, which uses the power and ground at the connector to power the mpscilink.
You could use some 2 conductor, for the Tx/Rx, and then you need a seperate 12v +/- for the mpscilink power.

I would be interested in one of the 8' lengths (with spade ends included). I will wait for the enclosure also. I'll pay for the enclosure and the cable when prices are firmed up and then it can all ship together.

Ok, i may have to get some connectors then! I don't know if i have enough.
I used spade connectors at thr diagnostic connector, and some other terminal ends for the terminal blocks at the board.

is the cable anything special? twisted pair for the communications wires? shielded?

i have tons of 18ga stranded security/fire alarm cabling that i plan on using.
