    Went to Famoso Drags, Bakersfield

As you all may know, I'm not much of a drag racer but last Saturday afternoon, I rode my CBR1000RR, up to Bakersfield Auto Club Famoso Raceway to meet a couple of friends who invited me to join them for the drag racing that night.

Without working at it, we got in 6 runs, the last at 2:05 AM.

My Honda's best run was 11.429 at 127.56, on a crummy
    R/T of .398,
    60' of 2.097,
    330' of 5.165,
    1/8th of 7.598 at 101.45
    1000' of 9.661

My friend's shaft drive 16 valve BMW K1300 humiliated me with a best of 10.91 at 133.96 on an awful
    R/T of .488
    60' of 2.06
    330' of 5.002
    1/8 of 7.263 at 109.17
    1000' of 9.227

After getting to bed at 3 AM in his toy hauler, we were woken at 7 AM by deep bass and "music" coming out of about a hundred or more tuner cars who were holding a car/sound show and Sunday drags.

We walked around in wonder lookin at the things people do.

"The sole condition which is required in order to succeed in centralizing the supreme power in a democratic community, is to love equality, or to get men to believe you love it. Thus the science of despotism, which was once so complex is simplified, and reduced . . . . to a single principle."
    -- Alexis de Tocqueville

"One of the methods used by statists to destroy capitalism consists in establishing controls that tie a given industry hand and foot, making it unable to solve its problems, then declaring that freedom has failed and stronger controls are necessary."
    --Ayn Rand

"To evolve, you don't need a Constitution. All you need is a legislature and a ballot box . . . . things will evolve as much as you want. All of these changes can come about democratically; you don't need a Constitution to do that and it's not the function of a Constitution to do that."
    -- Justice Antonin Scalia
