    Timing belt changing video?

Just out of curiosity (and helpfulness, haha) has anyone ever posted a video here on the steps of changing the timing belt on a 8v engine?

I'm about to do my first one and I'm a much more visual learner than just reading the steps on paper. I'm not super worried, but it would be really nice if there was a step by step video floating around illustrating how you set the timing and using that timing belt tensioner tool.

I did a couple of searches on youtube and came up empty, although I may not be entering the exact right key words?

The one thing not covered well in the video is to ensure that the little hole in the cam is pointing up when you set the timing. This ensures it's at the proper position.

No problem. If there's ever a video you would like to see that I don't have yet, just let me know. I enjoy doing them.

    Re: Timing belt changing video?

What about an a413 valve body mod video? Are all your cars 5spd? If you go by my how-to on TD you could show people how the thing actually works. The hydraulic diagrams in the manual are your friend. If you need any help or have any questions about different mod combos I will do my best to help. I can repost the how-to here on TM if anyone wants it, but I don't have the original pics anymore. I would have to copy them off TD.

To anyone who has read my post on TD about VB mods I cover all of the mods I have personally tried but I made them in a certain order and some of them will effect shift points If you don't want/do the full manual configuration. I spent a long time tracing out the VB(the newer version 87'+ with or without lockup) and referencing the hydraulic diagrams. I understand how it works but if you want a transmission that still shift by itself I can only give you info based on educated guesses.

I like your videos. You are a very good narrator. Your 555 video helped me on the disassembly of my a523. I didn't know whether or not 5th gear was pressed on or not and even though you didn't say directly that it was in the video I took the hint and was successful. Thank you!

Also lawn boy mowers rule(The real ones. The 2-strokes)! I wish someone would put a real exhaust and ignition on one. I have toyed with the idea. Maybe drill the flywheel for magnets all around and use the original magnet as a trigger for a scooter ignition box/coil. It's gotta have the exhaust exit under the deck though. The duraforce just doesn't sound right!

    Re: Timing belt changing video?

I've been looking around at all of the auto parts in my basement lately, and thought about it. I have an 87 NYer which is pretty much set to make some decent power, but the trans in it sucks. The only good thing about it is that I have the .91 transfer gears in it. I'll try to look for your how to write up and compare it to some other stuff I've seen and decide from there if it would be worth it for the car, and make sense for my channel.

    Thanks for watching!

    Re: Timing belt changing video?

There was a story on Jalopnik last week with a stop motion video teardown of a flat 6 out of a 911. The author mentioned he'd like to see the same for a 2.2 turbo. I thought it'd be right up Cordes alley and make him more famous.

He just took the engine apart? I've got a decent collection of engine assy time lapse video sitting on a hard drive right now. I should get down to business editing it seems.
