    2.2 T1 Mopar Performance Cam key?

    Greetings all!
    I was at my local AutoZone and in the parking lot, a guy in a pick up truck stopped to ask about my 86 Daytona. He had the same car years ago and said his friend was a Chrysler technician. He said he was able to tune that car to boost 11 PSI without blowing up the engine, without inter cooling. By the way, I'm happy with my stock set up, but he mentioned that Mopar Performance had/still has some sort of cam key advancement? Basically somehow advancing the timing on the camshaft, and it would eliminate that low end boost lag. Anyone have any information about this? Seems to me you could just advance the timing yourself on the stock cam pulley?

    No, it's a trade off. You gain low end and would loose top end. Unless you have variable valve timing.

    Cam key are old school, you can get adjustable cam pulley now.

    Yea I remember the adjustable cam pulleys. Just out of curiosity, is the mopar cam key in fact still available?

    the cam keys are easy but .. they also are entirely based on being half way cleaved through


    ie the half that fits in the shaft is off set by the part that fits in the pulley so they do not have the same strength as a regular stock flat key


    a better solution was also available from mopar performance in the way of a multy slot cam pulley which is a way way better method than the half hacked keys


    above that would be the aftermarket adjustable pulley which simply means you don't have to remove the pulley to adjust the cam timing which is nice but if you're only going to experiment with the timing a couple of times it's kinda excessively unnecessary


    I know the mopar multy slot pulley was available for the older square tooth belt motors but I don't have any idea if there was one for the round tooth newer motors

    A better way to increase boost response, is you haven't already, is to open up the exhaust.
