Hello, I tried to use mpscan the other day and received a message, unable to open setup port. Has anyone seen this before? What is the cause of this.
Thanks, jeff

didn't like the com port settings. post up the mpt2coms.txt file in the mpscan directory, C:\Users\?????????\Documents\MPScan. any changes made to the com port, e.g. cable plugged in correctly, bluetooth added/removed, etc.

Well, I discovered the problem after checking the wiki and rebuilding the leads to the FTDI. (I thought I might have broken a conductor) These leads are very fine 26 0r 28 ga. and are easy to break. I am using a six pocket female plug to attach to my SCI plug in the cabin. I had installed the leads for rx and tx into the correct order but into the wrong set of pockets. As soon as I changed those over, viola! she works again.
The six pocket plug has no strain relief so I stripped the conductors out of some color co-ordinated wires from work and fed the FTDI conductors through those. I then soldered them to the packard 56 male pins. This protects the small wires very well.
