Per the wiki on Boostbutton, SBEC requires the 87C257 chip, but I can't seem to find a good source for them. Anyone know of one?
Thanks,

Thanks,
The older 28 pin dip style appears to be out of production, but a google search brought up a link on ebay for them.
Also, www.batronix.com sells one of the newer packaging styles with an adapter for use in 28 pin dip.
I've bought from Batronix before and delivery is fairly prompt considering they are in Europe.

I've always heard bad things about ebay chips not being re-writeable. I found them on ebay also, but would prefer not to use them. I'll check out Batronix.
Thanks Barry
I believe the chips Batronix sells are EPROM, not EEPROMs. I'd prefer to stay away from chips that require a UV light to erase.

Still waiting for Rob 2.0 to announce the grand re-opening.
I'm slowly getting things organized. Also waiting for the site to change hands before paying for a vendor account.
Happen to have an SBEC flashable module lying around you can sell on a "Garage Sale" status?
Would this be the right chip?

I think they will work, been thinking of trying one. Is there a minimum order on those?
You could order a BB board from oshpark and assemble it, just saying.. then no uv erase or removal..
Consider those chips are obsolete... I'd worry about getting fake chips.

Yes there's lots of dodgy remarked chips on the Chinese market. Be careful. There are other sbec with a 27c256 that can be moded to take another EEPROM with minimal work. (At least Jeep ECM were set up like that in some years, not so sure on the TM stuff)
I understand that they could have issues, they could also work great. Only one way to find out. Until Rob starts producing flashable boards again, it's either this or try the ones Barry suggested with the adapter. I figured it's worth a few bucks to test it.

Problem is all you get is the board, no instructions on assembly. Considering Rob bought BoostButton, they are going to be considered proprietary property, and if I were Rob, I wouldn't tell anyone else how to manufacture my products
I'd have to look at the pin out of the Jeep ECM to see if it would work with the TM stuff.. I think some pins would be different. (Jeep lacks baro read solenoid and some other little stuff that may not be present on the actual board. The 4 cyl Jeep ecu would likely be closest)
I do have a 87c257 I could mail you but it's a salvaged chip. I think post would be cheap enough you wouldn't need to worry about sending anything for it because it's just going to get stuck on the wall for an ornament if you don't want it.
