Is 25psi oil pressure at warm idle too much?

I'm dealing with oil smoking issue.

Turbo is rebuilt by a shop 3 weeks ago.
    Valve stem seals are new.
    Leakdown test were between 3%-10%.
Drain hose is silicone, using mobil 1 oil.

Shortblock I bought it off somebody local, I don't know if it has the high volume pump or not. I have 25psi using autometer oil guage at warm idle and am using TU's SS oil supply line. Is too much oil going thru the turbo?

Please help, this is driving me nuts.

Brian bucar, Aries turbo, is having the same problem as you. I don't think he has figured it out yet either.

Thats a bit high. Whats the oil pressure at say 3000rpm and higher? You might have to restrict the oil flow to the turbo.

I was pushing oil past the turbo seals too, a .040 restrictor right where the oil hard line attatches to the turbo fixed the problem. That may seem pretty restrictive but no wear issues on the turbo-yet

Put a new stock oil pump in there, same exact number and same exact smoking.

No, the drain back wasn't plugged.

Have a look in yuor bores with a small bright penlight. If the pistons are all dirty, its not your oil rings-its either the valves seals or turbo. If the pistons are clean at 12 and 6 oclock, the rings are leaking.

Whats your oil pressure when you get on it?

Re: Is 25psi oil pressure at warm idle too much?

I dont see how 25 psi can be a 'little' high.. considering probably every single 2.2/2.5 came with a higher warm idle oil pressure than that from the factory.

My 88 still gets about 45psi at warm idle with 130,000kms.

You didnt say whether it was smoking before the new turbo rebuild or not.

Problem solved. Dodge OEM pcv valve was stucked closed. Took it out and no more smoke.
