    Boost creep

I got the exhaust welded back up today on the SL (stock Masi 16v downpipe, 3" FWDP system with no cat and an Ultraflo muffler). I have a grainger valve boost controller on it set to the lowest setting right now. I see about 5 psi at WOT, which then rises to about 8 psi in the higher RPM. Is it normal to expect some boost creep? I was hoping to turn it up to around 12 psi and leave it there but I'm not sure that will work without hitting overboost.

Yes. Only mods are 3" exhaust and the Mopar Indy intercooler.

    Re: Boost creep

For years, I ran the Ramerati on the IHI and a 2.5" for the downpipe then to 3" with a CA cat, out to the bumper. Set the Grainger valve to 15#, on a stock Daytona SMEC cal, stock TII injectors, and high fuel pressure. She'd creep up to 18# often. Never a problem. Always, watched EGTs and AFR. Base timing 12*

Eventually the IHI lost a seal; tore it all down down and found some rod bearing scoring; that was 4 years ago.

Yeah I would expect to see some creep with a a big exhaust and that tiny turbo.

    Re: Boost creep

If your boost target is higher than your minimum attainable boost, creep should not be an issue.
