MP Super 60 intercooler and 'Indy' intercooler

I've always wondered if the Mopar Performance "Super 60" intercooler and the "Indy" intercooler are one and the same? Anybody know?

It's my understanding that they are, as the Indy Lebaron project data was used to create the S60 package.

That's been my understanding as well. I bought a GLHS rad/IC years ago that was advertised as having the "Indy" intercooler. Just looking inside with a flashlight, it is obvious that the internal fins per inch are fewer than the Shelby Lancer's original TII intercooler. It has an angled outlet, and somebody wrote on the side with paint marker "P-body". It's now installed in the SL with the Masi 16v, 3" exhaust, and my homemade grainger valve. Hoping for like 220 whp.

The P body cars also received the angled outlet.

To be fair, that TII style IC only came on the 87 and 89 CSX, but they did receive the angled outlet.

Re: MP Super 60 intercooler and 'Indy' intercooler

I'll have to look at this "Indy" intercooler again and see if I can find a part # (should start with a 'P' I would think).

Anyways, I have another Blackstone made intercooler from the '89-'90 Pontiac grand prix with the same core dimensions, and it has even fewer internal fins per inch. Seems like it would be a decent upgrade while retaining the stock appearance if I had it modified with the Chrysler style end tanks, especially for the climate I'm in.

I knew I kept that T-GTP intercooler around for a reason, that would be a pretty decent stock-appearing modification for the GLHS. Good thinking!

My brother made 240 whp with the stock 3.1L turbo Grand Prix setup he retrofitted into his '91 Cutlass Supreme. It was all stock too, except for a grainger valve setting the boost to 12 psi. TINY little T25 turbo and stock exhaust and all! The end tanks on the TGP/TSTE intercoolers aren't as good as the Chrysler ones.

Seems like the Ford Thunderbird 3.8L S/C Coupes may have had similar Blackstone cores as well, but I don't have one of those handy to compare.

I ssem to remember my t bird sc had a very large diameter cast tube running from the i c to the engine
the outlet on the i c might be much larger than on a mopar

nice car , white , black leather , sunroof - quick-ish but handled like something I have to carry home when walking the dog compared to a shelby charger
