I assume you are in Ingersoll, Ontario. If so, US to Canada shipping is crazy price.
I shipped 3 eproms to Florida and it cost $17. Seriously

The eprom example above......I mailed the eproms to a forum member 100% for free, I did not charge for my time nor chips nor postage. This was only an example to show the crazy shipping charges for cross border.
As a buyer, I always tell the seller in a separate statement "I live in Canada". Even then I have had cases where the seller underestimated the cost of shipping by a significant amount, and they replied the price is crazy. I have always offered them more money to cover the additional postage expense. Once or twice the seller said they would help soften the impact with a discounted rate.

I do ask the seller to send regular mail rather than the convenient for them flat rate packs which can significant lower shipping rates to Canada.
    Regards,
    Miles

I pretty much agree with you Miles.

USPS/CanadaPost is much better especially concerning brokerage fees.

I also stress I'm Canadian as many in the U.S. don't do much business with us.

Some won't even deal with us due to Customs forms etc.

In this case I would try to negotiate rather than post negative but it's not my business.

I'm not saying either party is right or wrong so this is just my opinion.

    Thanks
    Randy
