Suggestions? Tight squeeze turbo oil fitting help

So I'm trying to change wastegate actuators, and unfortunately i need to change brackets.
What makes it worse is i can't get one of the bracket bolts out due to the positioning of the oil supply line fitting.
I can't get my tubing wrench in there, or an open end.
The only thing i can think of is possibly a crows foot might loosen enough for me to re-angle the lower fitting. Or i would have to remove the stainless hose to get the bolt out.
    Any suggestions?

And this is what I'm trying to install for testing. Kit came with a straight and bent arm.

Tight is an understatement! Unfortunately, I got nothing.... only that you need to remove what you need to remove. Sorry.

    I bought this one:
    http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...437284&alt=web

But also bought another spring to test. And i bought another nipple, threaded the spring side port, and installed a couple orings on the shaft in the little bellows looking sleave. The spring side can hold about 5psi without leaking.
So, i would like to get this installed so i can test.
    I ordered this last night:
    http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...958243&alt=web
Hopefully i can get in there with that.

While you are waiting for that cool crows foot socket, you might squirt some PB Blaster on there. I've found that letting it sit for a couple of days helps a lot, going back and squirting it every day to keep it wet and to keep it wicking into the threads.
    John Laing

"The sole condition which is required in order to succeed in centralizing the supreme power in a democratic community, is to love equality, or to get men to believe you love it. Thus the science of despotism, which was once so complex is simplified, and reduced . . . . to a single principle."

"One of the methods used by statists to destroy capitalism consists in establishing controls that tie a given industry hand and foot, making it unable to solve its problems, then declaring that freedom has failed and stronger controls are necessary."

Re: Suggestions? Tight squeeze turbo oil fitting help

So sfter an excruciating time looking at granite in Raleigh, i was finally able to spend some time regrouping on the situation.
So i found some cheapo wrenches i had around and picked the one with the thinnest wall, and marked it to trim out an opening.

Some trial fitting and retrimming later i ended up with this:

It worked, and i was able to move the oil supply over a bit and remove the Z-bracket that came with my turbo.

More test fitting and had to shorten the bent kinugawa arm probably about 3/4", but success...

Mityvac shows some arm movement at about 15psi, and looks to be fully open at a bit above 20 or so.
Will have to put the rest of it back together and test it.
I have a 58mm TB to install, and might just do that now to save time, but i wanted go wait to only change that to see if it improves. So not sure yet if i will. I need to check/compare the AIS motors, since the 58 has a different plug.

Luckily it is a very short bolt.
Loosening all and rotating the compressor housing wasn't really an option either.
I'm glad it worked, and i hope it doesn't leak! Everything is tight, so i'm hoping it doesn't.
Weather is crappy rainy, so don't know if I'll get it back together today.

And don't worry, the van won't be breaking any of your records! Even if the new actuator works out! Lol.

Lol! I appreciate it Rob! I love to see it do it too, but i think your 10.04 is safe! I don't think 10's will be in the cards, so i don't think you'll have anything to worry about.

There are a few things i need to address before i can push much more power. I was hopeful about the actuator change, but a quick initial test in the subdivision yielded 8.1psi, and i was expecting something around 12. I'll have to try out on the road today. I think i may need to readjust the arm tension, and its not easy to get back in there now that its all back together.

Wow I really need to find a TU manifold or make another manifold. My wastegate actuator is about .050 from my brake booster and I had to remove my heater lines.

Re: Suggestions? Tight squeeze turbo oil fitting help

So not really the results i expected, I'll have to try and adjust this actuator further when i have time.
With our annual maintenance shutdown at work for the better part of April, I think i missed my chance to make a new record before SDAC. With the heat of summer I'll have to focus on getting things worked out for Cecil in Nov.
I hope i haven't set myself too far back and can be back on schedule for SDAC27.
I did try to address my intake elbow while i had it apart. I'm no Steve Menegon, but i think i did ok...

Re: Suggestions? Tight squeeze turbo oil fitting help

So I fought with this some more, and i think the wastegate puck is closing off. But after testing, my boost is still lower than with the garrett actuator. My "high boost" setting which netted 25psi before only got me 16 with this actuator.

I guess i need some other springs to try. I should have bought the kit with a spring assortment. Springs are like $15/ea, and i think i'll order the 1.5 bar, 1.7 bar, and maybe the 2 bar springs.

With the added surface area of the 35.5mm port (and 38mm wastegate puck) i think i'll need these heavier springs since the diaphragm diameter is smaller also.
