    Latch board and flashable eprom

So I bought the latch board for the smec with chip. I am wondering does the board matter what direction it is soldered in. Does the eprom go in a certain way. I searched and not found much of install direction

Yes, there is a notch at one end, needs to face the same way as the factory one.

SMEC? or SBEC? The SMEC doesn't need the latch board...

I'm confused. You don't need a latch board for a SMEC. In fact, it probably won't work in a SMEC at all.

If you are just asking about the socket itself, it technically doesn't matter. But, there should be a small semi-circular notch in the 1 end of the socket. This denotes the pin 1 end. It should match the chip notch, just to indicate which end of the chip should go in.

And IIRC, the notch in both the socket and the chip should be on the end closest to the center of the board, not the end closest to the edge of the board.
