Silent Exhaust. How do I get it?

I want a silent exhaust. I don't want to hear the exhaust, not even when I get on it.

Other than getting a electric vehicle. What do I need to get close to it?

    Mufflers I tried.

    Straight though muffler

Super easy, just weld a block off plate over the exhaust exit, make sure it's airtight. You won't hear a thing I promise.

2 slightly more restrictive mufflers in parallel with 2 tips past the bumper.

you keep the flow for power and since they are more restrictive, you get less drone as well.

Sounds like you need that high tech amplified speaker that emits sound waves to counter the exhaust sound waves, thereby cancelling them out. The result therefore is silent exhaust.

The cheap factory replacements work pretty well and keep the exhaust quiet. Engine noise is the same, but you can't hear it at all inside.

AJ. Just push a potato up the exhaust. Works just as well and way faster and cheaper. Happy Holidays from N.C. to the Left Coast Pal, Jer

That's what a muffler suppose to do.

Sadly, you're not going to find what you are looking for. There are no silent 3" mufflers out there.

Even if you were able to eliminate all exhaust noise you would still have intake and mechanical noise to deal with.

I have the Flowtech Terminator on both of my R/T's, they are nice and quiet.

Re: Silent Exhaust. How do I get it?

I have the following on my 85 Turbo Z and it is quite like a stock muffler level at a lower frequency tone.

    Dynomax #17488

    http://www.dynomax.com/single-2-25-a...o-muffler.html

From the turbo to the "mini cat" I have the largest diameter pipe I could fit and out of the cat it is also a large diameter. I had to have the end pipe of the dynomax kit enlarged by a shop to fit inside the larger pipe from the cat.

Prior to this I had the "Anza" cat back system from Direct Connection 2 times before which were VERY loud!

Re: Silent Exhaust. How do I get it?

    Do you run a cat?

I would run two high flow mufflers, one where the stock resonator was under the floorpan, and then one at the tail. For both i would try the Dynomax UltraFlo round mufflers. One has a nice sound, but will be louder than what you are describing. Two might be good, but i have no personal experience with it because that has never been my goal.

One thing i would caution is trying to get to your quiet goal might prove very restrictive, and power and mieage robbing. Two high flow straight through mufflers might knock the sound down enough for you to be happy.
BTW, a cat will knock some exhaust noise down as well.

Put a mitsu on it, run a cat, and a stock type muffler. Is noise level higher priority than performance?

Re: Silent Exhaust. How do I get it?

I'd run a glasspack or magnaflow in the tunnel and a turbo-style mufler at the back and see how that does. One single muffler isn't going to make it quiet without restricting performance, multiples could though.
