MeanMini-palooza Fayetteville Motorsports Park Sunday 11-20-16

    Test&tune Sunday from 12-5pm.
Going to see if i can beat my time from last week at Cecil.
Need to test if low fuel tank level was causing my issues on the 2nd and 3rd runs there, or if something else is at fault.
If it's ok, going to try for a better launch (hey if Corby can do 1.729, why can't I??) and see if I can beat my time with no tuning changes.

Then i can try setting my cam timing back and see if i pick up or lose mph.

Lastly, if i get those 2 clean runs i can remove the front passenger seat and have the cam set in the better of the two settings and see what she can do.
Hope the weather can hold for Sunday!

Awesome good luck, I thought it was funny Corby was busting your chops about 60 foot times, if I remember right his van was under 2500lbs and you are right there for 60 ft with a heavier van. With how good you are doing I bet you can get it if the track Temps stay warm. I wish we had a track open this late in the year.

It's all good. Like Joe_Van_Duno said, it gives you something to shoot for! If Corby has his van that light, then that's awesome. It's alot easier to make it happen with a lighter car.

The track here stays open through December, weather permitting.
So far the look ahead for Sunday says sunny with a high of 54F (Sat overnight low is 39F). Sounds like the weather recipe is going to be right.
I think i will just go ahead and leave the front passenger seat at home. I had removed it for my 2nd run at Cecil, and that's the run I want now. Then i may change the cam timing and see what happens.
    Looking forward to it!

You need a 25/32 socket to remove seat.A metric will round the nut off.I figured this out by rounding 3 off until realized what was going on.Had a 25/32 wrench in my box(I know its a odd size) and it fit perfectly.Found a socket no problems afterwards.

I used a 21 or 22 (can't remember ) 6pt socket and it came right off. I was using my dewalt 18v wrench...

Re: MeanMini-palooza Fayetteville Motorsports Park Sunday 11-20-16

Here now, raced a few times.
4th run is best so far. It is windy though, so i haven't bested my time from last week yet.
For this next run i retarded my cam a tad... want to see what that does. It is back to where it was degreed during cam install.

I'm racing with over 1/2 tank of fuel! And into the wind at times.

    Gone. Didn't do it once!
Over 1/2 tank of fuel though, and traction was missing from the first run terribly!
Here was run 1I got walked by sn AWD ecoboost Taurus!

    Here was run 2& 3:
Red lighted badly on run 2.
But the 3rd run toasted an SRT8 Grand Cherokee!

Here were the best, runs 4 & 5:
4th was my best, and had a 1.79 short time. Last run i tried setting the cam back to where Brian originally had degreed during install.
Probably not the best day to test that with the wind. Not sure if i canmake a conclusion from it.

You should have asked them to flip the track around for you. These vans do great with tail winds!!! LOL To bad it was windy, just having someone knocking on the door has re-energized my attitude. I have a few things in mind for winter changes, and I'm looking forward to next years Minivan Drag Challenge...

Pat, you don't kow how badly i would like to! But Janet is having surgery on the 29th, and I need to keep some PTO in the bank.
I was looking to see if there was any way, but doesn't look like it. If i was just off that weekend!

We can try to plan on an early season Cecil invasion in the spring.

You know how I love my laughing gas!! Always have, ever since I started screwing around with my Galant VR4 back in the day. I won't be surprised if Mean Mini takes the lead before I get things figured out. It took me nearly nearly 10 years to get my van to run the numbers I had intended for it to run, and that was without a wife and kid bugging me to do stuff

Not sure I'll be able to race again before the end of the year. So, you may be safe until 2017. Even still, there is a bit of a difference dropping a tenth at that level. I'll have some things i look forward to trying next season.

I had the same issue with my van bucking/cutting out if it has less than half a tank. Turns out the van tanks (at least the TBI ones) don't have a baffle to prevent slosh.

I don't remember looking inside the new tank to see if it had baffles.
I think i may have to address it with a new tank or sump. Not sure yet what I'll do.
