    1988 2.2 redline? Rev limiter?

Does a 1988 dodge arris 2.2 have any sort of rev limiter? Will it automaticly upshift when I get to said redline if I'm simply holding it at WOT?

This is thing has no tach and according to my ear it gets well over 4000 (sounds close to 5k but I'm used to a V8 and it's hard for me to tell) before I let off and let it shift up, is it safe to hold it to redline? Whatever that is?

6624 rpm is what the rev limiter set to. Though you'll probably want to shift before then because most 2.2 / 2.5 won't make power up there.

Holy crap that is high, I was not expecting that! Will it auto shift or will I have to let off?

No idea. I don't mess with automatic transmission.

Well thanks for the info! Helpful to know I probably won't realistically kill this thing from over-Revving it

My '85 Charger 2.2 shifts at 6k in first and about 5400 in 2nd. It started getting a bit of valve float right at 6k so I stopped letting it rev that high in first. A set of turbo valve springs (or even just new stockers) would probably fix that. A cam and a set of beehives would do it also

FWIW it's an '85 TBI engine out of a K-car w/ a Weber carb and a Hooker long tube header. Power picks up at 3k, starts falling off around the factory 5600 redline.

You have a kick down cable that has some adjustment in it.

I like them to shift a bit early at WOT so I don't have to so "pedal" it or rev its guts out to make it shift.

Can always manually hold 1st or 2nd if racing etc.

    Thanks
