Squared tooth first gear and other intersting transmission things

    Worn out first gear

Not so worn out first gear.

Also, pretty brass shift york pads

A523 end plate on a A520/A555 case so I can try new a new type of sealer. Only one bolt does not line up, and I have one messed up bolt hole.

    No leak after 24 hours.

I've never seen dogs that bad before. Nice work.

I didn't do it, found the trans in junkyard and just put it in without looking inside. I'd want to say 50% of the time it wouldn't want to go to first gear.

    Update.

AJ and I did a smoke test for leak, stock cast aluminum A523/A568 side pan will not work on A555/A520, as there is this small area at the pan where there is just no material to have a good flat contact the plate to seal it up. If you want to use the cast aluminum side pan, you have to get some welding done then resurface it. Which I might do in the future, but for now, I put the A555/A520 pan back in.

Dang. I was really hoping that would work with no modification.

I still used anaerobic sealer for the case, the race holder, and the bearing plate. Then I used RTV between the bearing plate and the pan.
