Help fix up Shelby Charger GLHS

My uncle had recently given me a Shelby Charger GLHS that I'm work on. Currently the driver side door handle doesn't work and needs to be opened via the inside handle. I need a new carpet for the trunk, and maybe some side panels. There are few other things that need to be worked that I haven't gotten to yet, that I will post at a later time. Any help is much apreaciated

    Welcome!!

We love these cars so you came to the right place.

There is a secret outer door handle adjustment hole in the end of the door.

The door needs to be open to access the hole and an allen key is used for adjusting. 5/32" from memory.

Loosen the allen head screw a turn, then lift up on the handle, and tighten the screw.

Due to age, corrosion, crap, dirt, etc, it might take a few tries.

Here is a link with basic instructions but you don't have to remove the latch.

    Thanks
    Randy

If that door adjustment doesn't work you may have broken one of the plastic retaining clips which hold the rod to the handle mechanism. They are available from clips and fasteners. Heck, depending on which one you broke, I may have one I could send you.

Nope and Nope. A cookie says the pot metal on the handle gave way. My bet says its broken and needs replacement. I've broken a couple, on a Rampage and one on an Omni S.

There's a very good chance you are right, Heck!!

Most cars have experienced a broken handle, or 4.

Depends on circumstances, I have adjusted many and replaced many.

    Thanks

I've been super lucky with my L bodys. I've yet to break a handle, but will break a handle the very next time I touch one.
