Open a .bin fine without a .tpl fine in MPtune

I'm wondering if anyone has been able to open a .bin fine without a corresponding .tpl fine with MPtune. I received a calibration for my 2.4 from Cindy and the car runs great with it. I just need to do some fine tuning to get fueling spot on. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure it's possible since none of the table locations would be known? This is, however, something I would also like to know, so just posting to subscribe.

I'm no expert, but I'm fairly confident in my answer.
I think MPTune is restricted to calibrations that Rob has decoded from the factory calibrations and turbonator cals only.

I think you'd have to use something like D-Cal or MoparCHEM to modify the bin file directly

    Could be wrong though

Pretty sure I've opened .bin files with it before. Try it and see, won't hurt anything. Worst case it will say there's no matching .tpl file and not open it. If you have a .tbl file, it can be converted into a .tpl I think.

This is what happens. I tried it to see. MPTune won't open a .bin file, unless there is a matching .tpl file in the same directory.

Have you try to call Cindy for support?

Re: Open a .bin fine without a .tpl fine in MPtune

dcal required a .tbl file that defined where the tables were in the bin and what type they were. if a .tbl file did not exist it could attempt a search for tables based on certain assembler commands and create a primitive table. mptune can convert a .tbl table file into it's .mpt file which would then allow you to open a .bin file. so if a .tbl file does not exist nothing can be done other then disassembling the bin and manually creating your own .tbl file. Or using a .tbl file from a similar calibration if it exists.

It's possible FWD uses a stock-based cal. If so, then one of the .mpt files for the stock .bins should also work with the FWD cal with just a file name change. I'd try the T2 or S60 .mpt file.

I did try that and the tables that showed up were indistinguishable.
