    A413 - slippage, burnt fluid smell

    Hey guys,

    Got a used a413 from a buddy to go with the rebuilt engine that just got put into 1989 Daytona Shelby.

    Put semi synthetic ATF multi vehicle fluid in it, and can't seem to get it to drive right. Rated for all levels of Dexron, etc.

    Slips taking off (have to rev it up to get it to move) flares between shifts. Fluid smells burnt and it's brand new fluid.

    Is this fluid crap for these transmissions or did I get a bum transmission?

    Just want to know before I go and take the time to go buy more fluid and try it again.

    Sounds like the forward clutch is slipping.

    The 413 is very uncaring about what kind of fluid its using unless it has a lockup torque converter which 99% of turbo equipped versions did not have anyways.

    So probably needs a rebuild? I'm unfamiliar with auto trans, everything I've had has been manual.

    I've got the original a413 sitting beside it so can probably rebuild, just kind of pain in the a555 to be honest.
