I am trying to find a supplier for the flat snap ring that replaces the wave snap ring so you can fit an extra clutch disc in.

Anybody else a little concerned/bothered that this is a standard upgrade on the AT, but so far NOBODY has been able to tell me where to find one of these snap rings???

had them machine that piece. down .80 i think. to fit the extra steel and clutch. any good trans shop should be able to find you a flat snap ring.
Upgrades not available for a transmission that was never meant to see more than 150 hp, most people viewed as throw-away cars, and hasn't been produced for 16 years? I'm not surprised at all.
The direct drum uses the flat snap ring. I have a bunch of transmissions I tore down that I have lying around that I steal parts out of when I'm upgrading a transmission. As of now I haven't had to source that snap ring because I have a few lying around to replace the wavy snap ring in the forward drum. It would be nice to have a supplier but as of right now it's not a concern for me.

So Gary got me thinking, the diesel shop next door rebuilds Chrysler rear wheel drive transmissions. I went over to look that their snap rings. WAY to big. The owner use to work for Chrysler and rebuilt the A413. Talked to him and got some part numbers. Unfortunately everything is discontinued and out of production. I'll list the part numbers I got from him and you can go on a quest to see if you can dig them up somewhere.
Transtar - Chrysler - snap ring thickness
U878 A - 4269670 - .048"
U878 B - 1942421 - .060"
U878 C - 4130774 - .076"
U878 D - 4130775 - .086"
U878 E - ******* - .098"
Correct me if I am wrong, but I was always under the impression that people changed the wavy snap ring with the selectable size ring from the rear clutch when doing this upgrade.
Oh and here are some part numbers:

1942423 .076 - .078"

a friend helped me rebuild and we just put the ring on a belt sander to remove enough to get the extra clutch to fit
Just a thought, but if you have measurements, try GL Huyett. They sell every kind of retaining ring known to man.
