    Can this head be fixed?

I've had this spare head laying around my shop for years and need to do something with it. The core plug area looks great, but there are two separate cracks between two valves. Is this thing fixable, or should I toss it?

I'm running a car with a head with the same cracking. Have no idea how long it's been like that but the head has run 10's that way and shows no signs of issues.

An 8V head or 16V? I know the 8V heads all have those cracks and it's not an issue.

As long as you have all of the other parts (namely the cam caps), and the head pressur checks OK...I'd try it. I've seen a video of a Lamborghini head that was in a speed boat...it was DEMOLISHED! By the time whatever shop was done with it, you couldn't tell! So, almost ANYTHING can be fixed...if you want to spend the money on it.

I doubt those cracks leak pressure but the rest of it is pretty ugly, is that half the spark plug threads still left in the hole? Ouch. I say keep it as a spare and *hope* you never need it

Re: Can this head be fixed?

I'll never need this head, i'm just trying to figure out if it's worth trying to sell. I hate to throw stuff like this away so i'm hoping someone out there can fix it and use the thing.

Hey Tyler I have a Spirit RT now so if you ever have extra TIII parts you're looking to get rid of without hassling with shipping... I'm sure we could figure something out and I'd come pick them up from you!
