Okay, so some stuff is broke that I need help with.

Just like the thread says, I have some damaged parts that I would love advice how to fix on the cheap.

First and most importantly the seatbelts are all dead, you can yank on them super fast and they don't lock up no matter what you try. Also the seats fold foward when you press on the back but I was told this might be normal?

Next I have encountered the unpleasant issue of no more current production parts, headlights and tail lights more specifically. Previous owner backed into a mailbox and killed one of the tail lights and I would really like to replace it. One of the front turn signal covers (Amber plastic) is also shattered from something.

And finally my freaking trunk is jammed shut because of the backup incident, how he heck do I get it open and working again without ruining the trunk metal thing? (The hinged cover thing that closes on the truck, I'm used to trucks so I don't know what that part is called sorry) I would really love to have access to the trunk if even just for the sake of knowing its there. Not really planing to use it but I like having my vehicles working at least functionally correct.

I have plenty of pictures to help elaborate upon request.

Pictures would probably be good since you never mentioned what car you're referring to.

I've owned 3 Daytonas and on all 3 of them, the front seats just pushed forward with no resistance. I've never been sure if this was normal or not.

Taillights and ambers, I'm sure someone on here could hook you up with usable parts.

What I believe you're referring to with the "metal thing" is the trunk lid. This would depend on pictures since we don't know just how bad it's locked into place. Replacing it might not be a big deal, but getting it to open first might be.

if the trunk is jammed shut you will have to remove the rear seat, crawl into the trunk and unbolt the trunk latch to get the trunk open.

the seats are normal- they're supposed to do that.

the seatbelts, tail lights and headlights, start hitting the junkyards - that is your only option for those parts unless someone on here is selling them in the classified section.

    New Old Stock.

Means brand new factory parts that have been sitting in inventory since being made by Chrysler.

May or may not have some "shelf wear" from being moved about the last 35 years, always check with seller.

Martin is a pretty good vendor if overwhelmed with mail time to time. Can be slow getting back to you but does always get back.

yes you can buy from me, however I DO NOT have those in almond.

I tried Google, partsvoice.com and www.rearcounter.com and nothing out there in that color

you could post up here: www.chryslerkcar.com

or try here: www.car-part.com (wrecking yard site)

    FYI:

    F746-7EK1 fits 1986-88 Aires, Reliant 2 doors

    F746-7DT3 tan fits 1985

I have F746DT3 NOS (right tan) this is going to be close to what you have....

so from 1985-89 the belts will interchange except for the colors

it is possible that 84 and earlier MIGHT fit but the part #s are different so I'd stick with 1986-89 year range

I've got plenty of Aires/Reliant parts used and NOS

I do believe the seatbelts are inertia-lock units. They have a small weight on them that "pulls" forward in the event of a starp brake event. This causes the seatbelts to "lock"

The ones in my daytona never locked when yanked, but would once I came to a sharp stop. The seats *should* function the same way, for ease of access when passenhers are entering/exiting the vehicle.

So should I test them by braking really hard at fair speed? Sorry not used to this system, current car has electronic pre-tensioning and locks up.

If you pull the seat belt unit out of the car you can test them in hand. They have a weight about the size of a small stack of dimes on them. Once in your hand you see the function of them. Merely pull the belt while moving your hand or moving the weight should lock them up.
