    1989 2.2 Common Block

    I'm looking for a 1989 TII CB 2.2

I need the short block assembly, pan to deck. Rebuildable cores are fine.

I should have enough parts laying around to put one together
I'll check what I have and let you know.

    Re: 1989 2.2 Common Block

I have cranks and rods, All I really need is a block and the non balance shaft pan.
I'm not in a hurry, Just planning for the future and trying to avoid sacrificing a 2.5.

[I] There's a 1987 Lebaron Turbo 1 ( J body - 2 door ) at the Pick 'n Pull in Aurora, Il. It has a digital dash and the interior is like new. I know you wanted a common block, though. Are you going to SDAC ? Bring those H body Lebaron GTS tailights, maybe I'll buy them./I]

to bad you're so far away - I have the 89 block and pan

but with that sitting on the floor next to my 93 2.5 block I'd ask if the 89 thing is important 'cause the block casting got much better by 93

one instance is the reinforcement across the back of the block - it's not evenly thick on the 89 and a friend had an issue with his cracking there - my 93 is really nice and flat along that reinforcement with no low spots or ruff areas on the block
the 92-3 are "supposedly " thicker at the mains too

    Re: 1989 2.2 Common Block

I didn't know about the 1993 improvements. I don't really need an 89, I just want to find a 2.2 CB to have around. Now I'll have to add a 1993 CB to the list. Gives me something to look for.

Through 1994 Chrysler still put the 2.2 in plenty of base model Sundances and Shadows.

    Re: 1989 2.2 Common Block

I used a 93 Shadow 2.2L block and crank when I had the engine built for my Laser. It was a beefier casting compared to the 89 stuff.

Not many in my neck of the woods either. I did see a green convertible (91+) the other day. I see a Shadow approx twice a year other than mine. Sundance, have not see one on the road for over 10 years, except mine.
