Just for kicks, after you flash your cal, unplug your sci cable from the wiring harness.
(The sbec bootstrap wire is part of the boostbutton sci-usb cable right?)

rob m - couple suggestions to try to help diagnose problem 1) in setup/com port/settings set the ecu baud rate back to 62500. you can always set it back to 125k later, 2) in setup/program settings set the "log ftdi port activity" option to true for now. this will create a log file called mpt2boot.txt which details the flashing process. flash the chip after setting this and post up the file for review. at least we will then know for sure that flashing worked.

No, there's no offset. 32k file, 32k chip.

Is your SBEC the one I replaced a big capacitor in? I did one for someone last winter, but I forgot who it was.

I have no idea what's wrong. Only thing I can do is take a look. But, you'll have to send it to me...

Might be, it was winter when I sent it I think. I had removed it from the case and scraped away the potting from around the chip. I can send it back to you for a look.

Anybody have a known good V6 sbec 1 I can get to test with?

If you check out car-part.com and find one around Raleigh, NC i'll pick it up and ship it to you.
Let me know if i can help.
Also exactly what year and sbec part number you are looking.
I think that yard closest to me had a daytona, but i didn't look at it when i was there last.

Edit: i just called them but they don't have one. Sorry.

    Re: Flashable sbec issue

Dropped a stock sbec in it last night and it started right up, so definitely something wrong with the flashable unit.

Good news. Now hopefully a "new" flashable sbec will work.

    Re: Flashable sbec issue

So, there was a sliver of solder shorting the 'PROG' and 'E' pins on the board. I didn't notice it when I built the SBEC. I wouldn't have thought it would even flash OK like this, but it did. It definitely would not run like this. I removed the sliver and am shipping this one back to you tomorrow...

    Re: Flashable sbec issue

And of course, soon as I have everything working, I close the f'ing door on the usb end of my $50 flash cable and eff it up And I'm sure since it says FTDI 5v on it, I can't just wire a regular usb end on it...
