    Project P-body

My dad got this at a good price from a friend, then I got it in a trade deal with my dad involving a project Shelby Durango I had.
Anyways the previous owner mark did some good things to get this started. a custom FMIC I think out of ford probe cores, cold air intake pickup in the front bumper.
    It is:
    1990 Shadow ES
    2.5? (not positive yet)
    auto trans
    15" pumpers
    TII Garrett
full 2.5" exhaust (needs work, turbo spools fine but feels like there is a lot of backpressure)
looks like a 1.25 sway bar

    Re: Project P-body

Plans are to make it a fun driver and hopefully decently quick on the cheap.
need to start with some brake work, took it out and heard grinding and found this.

I know most of you guys are used to rusty parts but it doesn't happen too often in my part of the world, luckily we have ebay and amazon should have new rotors and pads for about $120 delivered.

This project may not be too exciting but i have wanted to log the progress at least for my own experience. Maybe even get a few questions answered too.

    Re: Project P-body

So I felt like the car was spooling slower than it should and thought the muffler was a cheap "Turbo" muffler, so i cut it off to find that it actually is an older Dynomax Ultra-Flo which really surprised me because it seemed so quiet.

Here is what it sounds like https://youtu.be/Z3xeC_865bE

I also had purchased a Flowmaster-like muffler name brand Jones https://www.summitracing.com/parts/jex-fb426

Here is what it sounded like, just by ear i really couldn't tell the difference from an open pipe, but i know that in some of Gus' tests of a similar Flowmaster it has more back pressure than the ultra-flo and much louder in my test https://youtu.be/QgRxQVKgE5Q

    Re: Project P-body

I plan on putting the Ultra-flo back on it as i like the quieter sound a bit better for this project, but that left me to still wonder why i feel like my power seemed low and spool time seemed slow. Then i found this behind the bumper.

So after pulling this off it definitely seemed to have more top end power, i still have some ignition miss over 5500 RPM I am thinking wires or cap, as it was doing it at 4000 RPM until i replaced some very worn spark plugs.

Overall it still needs a lot of little things with the suspension and axles as everything seemed to crap out sitting the last few years with the previous owner, but it is starting to bee a fun car to drive.

Today when i went out to test the removal of the air filter I happened to catch a light with my dad in is SRT8 charger and on 10psi i stuck with him throug 1st gear and then in 2nd the Hemi started breathing and left me in the dust. Mad my dad even more dissapointed in the lack of low end torque that the stock SRT8 has

For about $25 it seems like a great choice, I will definitely keep it for a future project

    Re: Project P-body

I finally took it to the track tonight, but the car didn't like to rev over 4, 000 RPM, it would start breaking up like a rev limiter that would slowly allow the RPM to increase. Even though I was happy with the performance with problems it ran 15.63 at 84 mph with boost spikes to 16 and settled at 11 psi. Estimated track DA of 6500 ft
