2.5 CB to 2.2 CB questions

I'm going to be picking up a 2.5 CB tbi engine this weekend. Will my 1988 steel 2.2 crank rods and Pistons fit in it? Or would I be smarter to use my t2 rods and the cast crank and try to source a stock set of 2.5 CB turbo Pistons. I can't find anyone selling a set of good 2.5 t1 Pistons, do any of you have a set? I have a complete 2.2 t2 engine in the car but it had bad crank and rod bearing.

Simple answer is no. The 88 motor is a non-common block, so the crank is different. Rods & pistons you could use.

Contact FWP or Turbo's Unleashed. They sell forged turbo pistons for the 2.2 & 2.5.

The difference is the crank snout, front seal retainer and where it fits the block.

If by some miracle your common block had a flat face like the non common block the crank will work.

I've only seen very few like this as approx. 98% of all common blocks have a recess at the face for balance shaft chain clearance.

If you examine both block front faces you will see the difference.

    Thanks

There is no logical reason to call an Engine a motor.

I have a set of stock sized OEM 2.5 turbo pistons. They came out of an engine I rebuilt with Wiseco pistons.
If you need oversized pistons, you'll have to go the forged route.

Why not just replace the 2.2 crankshaft?
