    IROC R/T Revival

As some of you may have noticed, I recently put my R/T up for sale. I had four or five people call and ask me about it, but I quickly realized that i'm not quite ready to let it go. I got married shortly after finishing a major rebuild on this car and was never really able to finish what I wanted to do with it. I parked it in a garage where it has sat since 2010 only being started every few months to keep things loose. I recently lost the storage space which has kind of forced my hand into making a decision on this car. I am getting ready to buy a new house this year, so selling the car for some extra cash seemed like the right idea, but I cant get past the feeling that I have unfinished business with this car. I even had a wild though that I should get the car going again and drive the damn thing to SDAC this year, but I think that may be a little too ambitious. So for now the plan is to fix all the little projects I have neglected and enjoy it for the summer. Here she is in all her dusty glory!

If by "washed" you mean that I left it out in the rain? Then yes, I definitely washed it. What are you doing with a GNX? Seems like the outcast amidst your collection of outcasts.

Tyler, you should drive it out. Caravan with some others (if anyone out that way is coming) and bring it! Hope you can make it, one way or the other.

~1500 miles and ~24 hours from SLC to Memphis with no AC in a car I put together. That seems like a recipe for disaster to me!

Sorry I have to 1up you. 5300 miles one way from Anchorage to Memphis, in the summer, loose head bolts, heat on full July 4th weekend over a 94 hour period. I believe in you! :-)

Disaster? No it's called ADVENTURE Bro! Twice I've driven from coast to coast in cars that I didn't get my hands on until the day before the trip. Made it both times and only had to replace a lifter one of those times from a Jyard motor along the way.

Yep. I'm trying to put together a trip and I would like someone else to come along to share driving duty and to help run the cameras. This is what it's like for me as I organize things.

If it'll drive around town and county fine for a week or so, no reason it won't run 65mph on the interstate for a day. I'm trying to thrash a Daytona together that hasn't been driven in 15 years to take there

In my experience if it'll make it out of the driveway under its own power it'll get you to SDAC. IIRC Jon Trotter drove to my place with his alternator held in place by magic on the way to SDAC one year.

    Re: IROC R/T Revival

Okay, okay, I'm still considering the trek out to Memphis. In the meantime I've been a busy little beaver today. I have been wanting to polish my headlights and fog lights for probably close to 10 years and have just never done it. Today I bought a 3M polishing kit which I've had luck with on my old Audi. It took me a couple hours maybe, but the results speak for themselves. If you've never done this before and you're considering it, I highly recommend it. And for some reason my camera is putting a line up the middle of all my pictures, so just ignore that.

    Re: IROC R/T Revival

Many years ago I scored a really nice set of leather seats out of a LeBaron in a junkyard. I've always wanted to convert my interior to leather, but could never find a donor Daytona, so I grabbed up the LeBaron seats. I liked them in the car, but the driver seat finally started tearing. I saved my original seats which are in good shape, so I decided to swap them back in. They've been in my shop and had years of dust on them, so I shampooed the seats and carpets while I had the chance. I still don't like the look of the original seats, but dang they're comfy!

    Re: IROC R/T Revival

I bought these Enkei wheels back in 2001 and I still think they fit the car perfectly. That have been neglected for a long time, so I took the foam polishing ball to them. For being 15 years old, the original finish has held up surprisingly well! The rear tires are old and cracking, so I have a new set on the way. The car hasn't been washed or waxed in 6 years, it still looks pretty damn good if you ask me.

    Re: IROC R/T Revival

Here is the crack in the manifold, I stuck some JB Weld on there as a bandaid for now. We'll see what happens with that. The stock radiator overflow was broken, so I installed this cheap aftermarket tank I had laying around. Is it okay that it sits so much lower than the radiator cap? She also got a fresh fill up of Mobile 1 and the K&N air filter got washed and re-oiled. I think my next step is washing and detailing the engine bay. I went out for a quick drive and everything seems to run as normal. The stage 3 wheel in the 50 trim is pretty laggy at stock boost, I really need to get that boost cranked. One other thought, what should the egt temps be for a stock setup? At cruising speeds mine sit around 1200-1400 which seems really high. Anyone have some insight here?

Nothing like enjoying your TIII car again. My Spirit R/T just got back on the road today after an I shaft failure and man it felt good driving it again.

While cruising I've seen EGTs around 1400 many times. On my 2.2 TII omni and 2.5 TI shadow they were that high. Raise the timing in cruise and watch the EGTs drop while mpgs go up.
