    Wilwoods on an Omni

I finally got around to making a bracket for the Wilwood calipers, it was real tight, had to take a flapper wheel to the caliper for clearance, the rotor is 11.75". The wheels are 16" with a 35mm offset, it almost fit a 15" Shelby Lancer wheel. Just drove it around to bed in the pads and it was the first time I saw smoke coming from the tires since I pulled the power booster off years ago.
Nice weight savings, about 16 lbs. off the SLH package.

I stopped posting here because I couldn't load photos, glad the site is fixed.

I knew it would be lighter but was surprised how much considering the rotor is much bigger. Next is lighter springs up front to see how that works out.
    Rotor comparison.

I'm interested to know what you used for the system? Is it matched to a stock MC? Prop valve? What about rear brakes? What are the hats used on? Did you have to alter lug pattern?

    Re: Wilwoods on an Omni

As the car sits, I have a 1-1/8 master cylinder with no booster and an adjustable proportion valve. I didn't change the pedal ratio so the pedal is still too firm, the next step is rear disc brakes and swap out the MC to a 7/8 and see how that works. The parts are a hat for a SRT-4 with the 1/2" backspacing and shimmed the 11.75" rotor back with 3/16" shims. Wilwood has a hat for a Cavalier with .77" backspacing and 5x100 bolt pattern but the center hole would have to be enlarged to the mopar. The caliper is their standard Dynalite, they make a machined version of it which would have cleared the wheel fine but it was a 3 week wait and when Wilwood says 3 weeks, they really mean 3 months so I went with off the shelf.
