    Super quick question!!' HELP!!

Hey guys, when doing a timing belt on an 89 2.5 t1, is it necessary to remove this spacer on the crank, or can I leave it on? Is that little dot the alignment mark? Thanks in advance!

Don't need to remove that to do a timing belt and yes that little dot is the timing mark you like up with the intermediate shaft mark

The only thing I didn't cover very well in this video is to ensure that the little dot in the cam sprocket is facing up when you set the timing.

Use what you have lying around. I used a pair of channel locks back when. It doesn't take much to give it enough tension.

Just make sure the belt isn't too tight, it's not an accessory belt. If it's too tight it will try to walk off the end but get eaten up on the lip of the tensioner pulley. If it's adjusted properly it will ride in the middle of the cam sprocket while running.

And is it normal, when turning the cam sprocket, for the wheel to kind of "spring" between positions? Like it can only be in 6 different positions.

    thanks guys!
That's totally normal. I would add that I bet I could provide enough tension for the belt by hand if I could get my hand in there well enough. Just a bit is all you need. When you're done you should be able to fairly easily twist the front side of the belt between the cam and int. shaft sprockets 90*.

I'll add, it only has to come off if the seal is leaking, its usually a good idea to do it on a higher mileage engine.
