Super Nice '91 Spirit ES For Parts or Build-Up

    Date: 22nd March 2016

    Full Name: Dan Stern
City, State, Zip: Vancouver, BC, V6A 3K8 Canada
    Contact: 225@torque.net or 604-356-7312
Price: $667, one step ahead of the devil!

My "time capsule" '91 Spirit ES 3.0 with 70k original miles (113k km) lost its A604. Starts and runs perfectly, can be moved forward and backward but not driven a distance. I don't have time, space, or resources to repair it. Very clean, very straight, zero rust, exterior and interior near perfect, no dogs or smokers in it. Except for the transmission and tachometer (which sticks sometimes), everything including the A/C works correctly. A bunch of desireable and rare parts on it, too:

    • New (1 month) Continental ControlContact tires ($400+; see them here) on real nice snowflake rims
    • European-spec Chrysler Saratoga headlamps (glass H4)
    • European-spec Chrysler Saratoga side view mirrors (large, folding, heated -- not in pic)
    • Koni struts and shocks (adjustable & rebuildable; won't need rebuild for a long time)
    • Upgraded rear springs
    • 136-amp Denso alternator (bought NEW, not reman)
    • New (NOS) left and right taillamps and central trunk panel, properly converted to LED
    • Chrysler Infinity FM/AM/CD/Cassette stereo with aux port for phone/mp3 player plug-in
    • • Complete Gates No-Throw kit (serpentine belt has ribs on both sides instead of just one, will not jump off the pulleys no matter how much rain or snow you drive through)
    • Side and back windows have Llumar Air film on them -- invisible "tint" doesn't break laws but keeps the hot sun outside
    • Other recent/newer parts: high-flow California-legal catalytic converter, genuine Mopar stainless muffler, FlowMaster resonator. Genuine Mopar FFV (flex-fuel) fuel pump. Genuine Mopar Valeo radiator. Heater core. Evans Waterless coolant (spendy but excellent; read up on it here)

I bought it in the States with 17k miles on it from a Dodge dealer tech, who bought it new. Have kept it up carefully with synth oil, etc. The whole car has to go. Clean title. Can be freely imported back into the States without safety/emissions paperwork hassles (25 years old). Bring a trailer. Cash talks.

56 pics posted (crudely, sorry; right-click each one and send it to a new tab in your browser) here.

Plus a video of a cold startup, A/C demo, and a listen at the tailpipe.

A few more details I forgot: The car has the PolyBushings rear sway bar on it, and '92 Spirit R/T woodgrain dash trim. And the European-code headlamps are presently equipped with Philips' brand-newly-released LED H4 conversion; two of the pics I posted "Spirit Headlamps Hi" and "Spirit Headlamps Low" show the beam patterns on a wall: very focused, very bright-white light, not like the random spray of light you get with an illegal "HID kit". I just paid $249 USD for these and love driving with them; I can't let 'em go with the car for that price, but I'll sell 'em as a separate item (or keep 'em if not).

Got a stash of new parts, too—EBC brake pads, assorted NS1 parts, a new leather steering wheel, etc. If whoever winds up buying the car doesn't want to buy those, I'll be posting 'em here.

"Cash talks", he says. As if this wasn't an insanely good deal to begin with.

Wow, that is a beautiful car.

I once passed on an identical '91 Spirit ES except with a 2.5L TI/Auto back in the 90's and I've regretted it ever since.

Someone needs to save this poor Spirit.
And, a turbo drivetrain swap wouldn't be a bad thing. You could give it one of your fancy drivetrains Jeremy!

Re: Super Nice '91 Spirit ES For Parts or Build-Up

Something has been in the works since the first day. I asked the 3.0 guys that were closer and one of them jumped.

This is definitely now on my list of "cars i will keep track of that i may try to buy later". Pat C just bought one of the other ones..

Did any of the spare parts go with the car? Sent you a message about them.

Re: Super Nice '91 Spirit ES For Parts or Build-Up

Some of the parts are under discussion, so I won't post those unless/until that discussion ends without a sale. I'm starting by posting some 3.0 parts: NOS starter, performance injectors, air filters.

(message doesn't seem to have reached me...please retry?)
