There are people on this forum who have said they couldnt get their vans out of (in some cases into..) the 14s with a TII Garrett and a whole bunch of 'upgrade' parts, and people in general seem to think it is super hard to make a van go quick or fast. My van has a stock 1pc, stock injectors, stock head, stock cam, stock mitsu, stock downpipe (with cutout), stock ECU, weighs 3000lb (no real weight reduction besides benches and carpet, no cutting), and i'm a good 60' away from 13s after a handful of passes, on TBI pistons/rods that some people say should melt at 7psi.

I've made two trips to the track and maybe 4 or 5 good passes total on this van, and it has gone 14.06@96.7mph w/ a 1.97 60'. I gave up and left before i got my 13.9 because i get impatient with the staging lanes, but i already feel like i re-proved what's already been shown to be possible with the mitsu (two people have gone 13.9@97 with mitsu vans), and i'm pretty confident it's the fastest anyone has gone on the TBI stuff that everyone and their mom said to throw out in the last 15 years i've been reading about k-cars on the internet.

I have a dual-core TII-style intercooler top mounted over the transmission. I have a 2-stg boost controller trigger at like ~4200 rpm and the high stage was 'all of it' for the Mitsu. My boost gauge isn't backlit so i had a hard time reading it during my passes but it definitely hit 20 at some point.

Van weighed 3020 on a previous trip to the track years back, so assuming a 3200 race weight with me in it and 96.7 trap, the little Mitsu is completely maxed out, making ~230hp.

I was running ~3 gal race gas mixed with ~1.5 gal of 93.

I woud like to see a 13.9 slip from it but i'll need to learn to get my slicks heated up properly first and then work on how im launching. I ran the 14.06 with a 1.97 60'. The best i have done in the few passes i've made was 1.93.

There is a minivan class at the GRM Challenge this year and i am strongly considering taking this van, in which case i would work on making it turn better.

You are just a tiny bit better launch away from your goal of 13's. And like you said, would already have achieved at your PB launch. You will get there! I have confidence!

Johnny autoX'd a TBI 1991 style van specificly built for handling. I remember him posting here saying it did well.

That 97 is surprising.. the type of runs on Gus's site, DDG, etc, done easy on the tech and budget are the most impressive ones.
