Pretty sure someone around here has dyno sheets of an r/t with the wastegate wired shut and it wasn't too impressive. Just made peak power and died off with all that exhaust restriction. Imo the exit on the tiii turbo looks like garbage for flow too. I ported one out many any moons ago and maybe it helped.

Yes, all of it.
I did dyno that car once at 14 psi or and I believe it laid down 260 ish. This was
Stock cal, +20's, dual core IC, and a 2.5" exhaust on pump gas. The 12.4's were with an open down pipe,
Race gas and as much boost as it would make.
You keep saying that, but I keep finding TIII style turbine housing in interest cars.
Most famous is probably the XJ220

This car made 543 hp on the same style turbine housing.

ATP also makes them.

Someone have one in their TIII
http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/sh...t-same-as-TIII
I know you have seen them! And you didn't have to ninja edit my post to say something I didnt... The exit and elbow both have a lot of improvement to be had. I believe I even took material off the shaft/puck which sits in the middle of the post turbine flow path. Pictures somewhere on TD.com.
Now, compressor maxing out leaves you dead in the water and really thankful for that race gas.
Btw, for the masses, 1000 whp has been made on a single T31 style turbine housing but I don't know why anybody would try to duplicate that feat. I am sure given a choice and no odd fitment concerns, the engineer of that housing would never use what he designed back then for that tiii style housing. Looks to me like Lotus/dodge was too cheap to optimize the r/t with space avaliable for such a low volume car.

I agree with that. I have two or three of these housings sitting around and while they look like they might work better than the TII style for low power outlets where you need more wastegate flow to avoid creep, the TII has a massive advantage as far as being able to be modified for a huge increase in flow while the same would be more difficult on the TIII design.I am sure given a choice and no odd fitment concerns, the engineer of that housing would never use what he designed back then for that tiii style housing. Looks to me like Lotus/dodge was too cheap to optimize the r/t with space avaliable for such a low volume car.

Happen to remember what that 8th mile time was? I never ran a 1/4 but I ran 9.24@80mph in the 8th on a stock head 2.5 8v in the Lebaron, stock TII turbo pushing 22psi all the way. Calculators work it out to be roughly 250whp.
I'm not sure if anybody else is running one of these, but I can attest to the fact that this ATP 'Cosworth' style turbine housing does in fact fit the Turbo III. A local friend is using on his '91 Spirit R/T with a 50-trim T3/T4 with a stage III turbine wheel. I was a little apprehensive about suggesting this option to him because no one else (AFAIK) had tried it yet. Not to mention the fact that the Stg III was the smallest turbine wheel it could be had with, and it is .72 A/R. At first we had tried ordering it with the Stg II turbine wheel, but that turned out to be unavailable (a good thing).
I'm happy to report that the car is running great with it. Pure dynamite actually! It's running about 22 psi boost at WOT right now and is probably the fastest car I've ever driven or been in aside from Lotashelbys green IROC R/T!
This housing fits just fine with the TIII O2 housing and a stock downpipe and is pretty much a bolt-on solution to putting a T3/T4 in a TIII.
(EDIT) We did have to grind a bit off a trans 'ear' to fit the larger TO4E compressor housing, and plug the coolant supply/return since it was a 'dry' housing, but that was about it. We used ATP wastegate bracket and ATP actuator with the offset arm and it all worked great. I seriously could't be happier with how this turned out and might just go this way again if I ever put a *big* turbo on one of my next TIIIs. Even up here at ~4500 ft elevation, this combo freaking works.

Great info Jeremy.
Didn't 8 valves make over 250 whp when he made one of his thrown together with bit of garbage tubing equal length headers?
I maxed out a TIII turbo on my mild 8 valve, ported head by me, stock valves, cam, RX7 IC, wastegate wired shut, 27psi on the dyno, 236.5 whp.

8valves trapped 108mph in a full weight TII daytona through a 2.25"SV. Yes he had a header, but i doubt it was doing much. Lots of people have done nearly the same thing in the various body styles of 3000lb/t2/5spd cars.
All the 3000 lb cars with stock garretts have maxed out at 106-110 with the heavy+tII cars landing 106-108 and the light+tII and the TIIIs landing up to 110. It's been done over and over and over. Even a stripped out Caravan has gone in that range on a stock TII garrett before.
