Thoughts on modifying log to fit with BMF

Mocking up my intake and exhaust on a spare engine. I've run into some serious clearance issues between the manifolds. Any ideas on how I could modify the manifold to fit? I've taken some material off the intake so far but the amount of interference can't all come off the intake.

Offset the holes in the exhaust manifold and make some type of spacer for the exhaust manifold flange.
That is if you have enought clearance to the firewall.

those welds have a really high crown that is not really necessary.

I'm not sure if you have much choice here. Whoever made the log header didn't account for the big ports on the intake manifold. Would welding another 1/2 inch flange on the exhaust header to space everything out to give you the space you need? Other wise, you'll have to sell one or the other.

I used a stock exhaust manifold with a standard T3 flange turbo and I had to grind a lot on the turbo, weld the wastegate rod, then shape it with hammer, and some other stuff to get the clearance I needed to fit everything.

Look at the compressor housing and back plate!!

I think I figured out what to do, I'm going to cut the ports close to the weld all the way across then add an angled section of weld el at each port. This should rotate the turbo down as well to prevent turbo interference with the intake.

I have what appears to be the same header.
On both the BMF flanges and the header flange,
I was able to clear enough away for them to fit.

As you can see, there's enough material in that particular area to remove for clearance.

I hope this helps you out.

    Have a great day!

Added 15* to the tubes near the flange, would have added less but cutting 45* weld els on an abrasive chop saw is horrendously difficult. I have some interference with the shifter cable bracket now so I am going to cut the Turbo flange off and rotate the Turbo up slightly. I thought about having the flanges ground on an angle but without easy access to a machine shop I'll stick with cutting and welding.

The Turbo is pretty far to the drivers side. Ill probably keep it like this for this year but I want to build a tubular for next year. I want to try bringing the header around the passenger side with the exhaust exiting the right fender most likely. This would simplify plumbing and get the Turbo some fresh air.

Final product, had to flip the stud at the wastegate actuator to fit under the intake. Ended up with about 3/8in of clearance at the shift cable bracket.
