Now to finish cleaning this mess up.
4am? Someone stayed up late working on it... lol
Actually someone just couldn't sleep lol, I quit working on it around 8pm
So.... Inquiring minds want to know, what was it???
Very happy to hear it rob. I’m hoping you have more success than most people with the 2.5 tiii
Broken wire in the power feed daisy chain to the injectors, not sure how but probably messed it up stripping it for the connector.
Then, found I had wired the coil pack wrong, so rewired that...wrong again lol. Read the connector diagram wrong or something. Finally got the coil wired right, and it fired up.
The cam sensor plug connections are a little iffy due to some greenish corrosion I think? Need to find a good way/solution/spray to clean it with. Crank sensor plug too.
Got the main engine wiring mostly cleaned up and loomed last night. Got the non-essentials left still.
Not sure how it will work on connectors, but I've had really good luck cleaning aluminum engine blocks with Simple Green Extreme for Aircraft. Might want to give that a try??? Or maybe CLR? That and a set of tip cleaners for a gas torch should allow you to clean it up.

For wire corrosion: vinegar. Seriously. Just pour some vinegar in a cup, dunk the connector for a while, it'll come out looking brand new!

Found out my cam sensor is bad Also, installed my freshly rebuilt alternator.
Made some progress, got a new cam sensor from AJ so it starts every time now. Found the serpentine belt tensioner was bad when I tried to install a new belt, and broke it while trying to free it up So, decided to try and create one before just giving up and buying one. Found that a 3.3 tensioner almost fit right in it's place, with a little trimming and drilling it went right in place. It sits a pulley width further back, so had to use the factory idler pulley sleeve on the back side to put it where it needed to be, and used the small chintzy spacer that comes with the new pulley on the idler. I got the angle slightly off on it so had to get the next size up belt for it, got it installed yesterday during our local meet at my place and it seems to work great!
Good news is since it's a TIII it will run great-until it doesn't Always seems to be something with them

It drives! Got the exhaust hooked up yesterday and finished hooking up the water lines and pump for the intercooler day before. So, drove it to Quaker Steak and Lube in Greenville last night for a small gathering of friends. Other than popping a vacuum cap off the intake, drove pretty good for being on a stock TIII computer in limp-in mode. Spins the old wore out G-force tires pretty easy, even on minimum boost. Still needs alignment, and there's lots of little bugs, like brake lights quit working, park light bulbs, headlight doors decided not to work etc etc. And you can definitely tell there's no balnce shafts in it at idle But, it was still great to drive it again finally! Feels like actual progress lol.
Congrats!!
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
Great news Rob!
