    PT Cruiser Turbo Change Out addvice wanted

    HELLO,,
    Every one,,Newbie here an first time PT guy.,,,,(2006 Touring Convertible)
    And first time changing out the turbo.
    Do you all have any so called "TRICKS" (or short cuts ) to make this job easier??
    Are there any videos any where to help me out on this job ?

    As far as a replacement,,any recommendations,,brand,,vendors ??
    Or even a mild upgrade?

    Not too hard if you are NOT changing the exhaust manifold. You have the remove the lines from the turbo side only, and the oil drain back flange. The you can undo the center section clamp that holds the turbo to the turbofold mani. Once you get that out, you can take off the compressor cover with a really HD snap ring tool, then just get a NEW center section. Be careful there are a lot of Chinese junk out there. Then reassemble with new gaskets and crush washers. Also change out he oil feed line while the turbo is out. The stock line is designed poorly and has 180 degree bend. The have a tendency to coke up over time and starve the turbo for oil. You don't want to starve your new turbo by using an old oil feed line...

    Last time I bought an oil feed line from the dealer it was less than $20 and included the crush washers
    But that was back in '06ish

    Chrysler discontinued the older style banjo bolt lines and replaced them with this new design. Improvements include better heat shielding and a straight fitting at the top which reduced coking failures.
