1991 Daytona Shelby Experimental (The Prototype Project)

    Hey everyone,

I've had this car just over 15 years and have spent much time & money modifying and restoring it. The idea for the car was to essentially build a prototype Daytona Shelby with mostly parts found in the available parts bin at the time, which you can see from the modification list. I've still got much to do, especially in the restoration part, I will try to update this as I go.

1991 Chrysler Daytona Shelby (Canadian Spec) *G74 VIN code*
    Bright White monotone exterior
    2.5L High Torque turbo engine
    A-568 large spline manual transmission
All black cloth interior with all power options
    Factory Sunroof

As some will know, this year only produced 1231 Daytona Shelby's, minus IROC model, minus automatics, minus sunroof, minus the interior options, minus exterior, and finally being Canadian spec'd.
I would venture to say that my particular car could be a 1 of 1 or possibly less then a handful made.

Impressive build, respect for how much research you put into obtaining the best parts possible. You mentioned 2.2 common block, my understanding is only the 2.5 Hi Torque motors got the 568 trans?

For the G-body, yes that's correct, it seems Chrysler was planning to introduce the R/T model in 91' to coincide with the Spirt R/T. In saying that these A-568's don't have the crank sensor, easy to check and be aware of

Love the white 91 shelbys. Your car looks great. I had the US twin to your car option for option except i swapped it to a TIII for a whIle before i sold it lol. Would love to find another one that was not rusted beyond.

Very cool and very nice build! I would say the only thing it needs is to get an OBX in it in favor of the block/clutch style that will eventually chew up and send crap all through the tranny.

Fully agreed, I actually had an OBX however I used it to trade for the rebuild on the trans with that LSD...which the builder was able to do over an entire weekend as I needed it Monday morning. I've got a list of things to upgrade/fix this spring, PT lifters, rear window seal, replace odometer gear etc.
